21/02/2026: Today it is Viborg Golf Café that will have tested their offer of a steak sandwich with gravy. Arrived at 11.50 to the beautiful restaurant and was nicely shown a table and ordered immediately as we knew what we wanted. The food was served at the table exactly at 12.12 and the first impression is that the food is beautifully presented, looks really inviting and that there is plenty of it. The bun is a brioche bun that is nicely toasted and tastes like a standard brioche bun should taste. The top and bottom bun are smeared with a delicious homemade dijonnaise that tastes really really good, it is perfectly balanced and scratches just a little without taking too much over. There are finely chopped beets that taste nice and pickled cucumbers that also taste quite nice and both are nicely balanced in terms of quantity. There are raw red onions and home-pickled red onions that taste wonderful and they have a wonderful acidity. In addition, we find homemade roasted onions and it tastes really good and gives a nice crispness to the dish, while it looks nice. We also find room for remoulade, cranberries and cress, which also taste delicious on their own. The steak is 175-180 grams I think and it is freshly fried, it has a nice roasting crust and the meat is perfectly seasoned and tastes like quality meat should taste. The steak was almost cooked through which is a shame, a steak should be pink in the middle, so it should be taken out of frying at 55 degrees in core temperature and rest for 3-4 minutes. A bit of a shame but having said that, it still tasted good. The sauce is a story in itself, it is flavorful, has depth and the kind of sauce you just want more of. The good thing is that there is plenty of it THANK YOU. All in all, it is a really well-composed steak sandwich that belongs to the better end of the scale and if they can keep up the standard when it gets busy, then what will happen? Along with the dish, a nice large portion of giant fries is served that are really crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside, as well as 2 different kinds of homemade dip. You will be both full and happy to visit Viborg Golf Café and eat their steak sandwich. Delicious, we will come again, huge recommendation. 4.2 stars out of 5 possible. The price we paid was 159.- per person, which is more than acceptable.
