Caféen på Moesgaard Museum Aarhus

After a journey through millennia at Moesgaard – from the world of the Vikings to the quiet and almost solemn meeting with the Grauballe Man – another, more down-to-earth craving naturally arises: lunch. So you head towards the museum café with anticipation. When the setting is as impressive as it is at Moesgaard, you almost hope that lunch is also a little cultural journey in itself. The café turns out to be a bit of a mystery, however. Is it a café, a cafeteria or simply a friendly resting place for tired museum legs? The selection seems a bit modest, and at the counter two pieces of open sandwiches including drinks are advertised for 210 kroner. What the two pieces of open sandwiches actually consist of is not entirely clear, however. Under the sign, it is kindly stated that you can ask the staff about the contents – but the staff is busy helping the many guests, so the explanations will have to wait until a calmer day. On the other hand, the salads were fresh and tasty, and they saved the lunch break in a nice way. The conclusion must therefore be: Five big stars for Moesgaard Museum – a place where history can almost be felt in the walls. The café gets three more modest stars. It fills you up quite well, but the adventure only really continues again when you go back to the exhibitions.
