We visited Esja Bistro in Hobro yesterday, it is a bistro after all, so yes the atmosphere is Bistro, minimal decoration and coziness in the room. The sweetest waiter made up for it, she took good care of us and asked along the way if everything was ok. That was definitely it, I had the Northern Lights-Vore's shooting star made on a waffle. The taste was fresh and really good. I also tasted a bite of Steikarloka Hot Smoked Salmon and hold up a delicious salmon. The Baldur bacon burger, Esja's fish burger and Fish & Chips were said to be delicious meat/fish and everything tasted fresh and good. Their tartar sauce was highly praised. Our best recommendations for Esja. We would love to eat with them again!

We were a larger group for lunch. We ordered separately and paid individually immediately. It worked super well. Things went a little wrong when we had to get our drinks, as the person who had received the order and payment was not the one who served the drinks. Some of us had ordered two different drinks at the same time, it was a bit of a mess. But after switching to English, it was resolved immediately. A place I would like to come again.

By chance I got a tip that there should be some really good burgers in the middle of Hobro. As an almost local I was very surprised, and when I got to the old disco, I saw a nice little Bistro. We were greeted with a huge smile, and we were kindly introduced to the different burger variants on the menu. Almost impossible to choose, so you have to try several times. The burger arrives, and what a sight! Well presented, so that all the ingredients are exposed, but not too big that you couldn't give the construction a little squeeze, and the size was absolutely perfect. And WOW.. the taste was absolutely fantastic! These were not frozen steaks and pre-cooked ingredients. Here the food had been given a portion of love in the kitchen, and that made its clear traces in the burgers! Every bite was a pleasure, and the balance was almost perfect. When I say almost, it's probably just my preference for some acid that was missing. But their amazing Chili Marmalade was absolutely cheeky in rounding off the lack. It must be said, however, that these burgers are not really designed to have the acid in them, that's just personal! And 10/10 for serving a nice portion of French fries, rather than a huge one. A portion that I can barely fight my way through. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Even though there was traffic of customers, you could still ask and chat a little about the place, the concept, the hinterland and various things around the place. It was so good the first time, that it didn't take more than 2 days before we had to stop by the bistro again and try another burger, which was again just perfect! The atmosphere was great, and the concept of Iceland was implemented! Icelandic drinks, pictures and music from Iceland! Simply fantastic! It's quality, fair price, cozy and not least worth revisiting!
