19/02/2025: Today, Resturant Unico will have tested their steak sandwich with sauce and expectations are high as in 2024 they were nominated by the brown knights for best onion and best chop boy.
We arrived at 11.50 for a pre-booked table and the food was also ordered upfront, so it was just a matter of ordering drinks from the young lady. The food was served at our table exactly at 12.20 and WOW it looks nice, delicious, professional and inviting on the white plate with a small indentation. The sauce comes in a metal container next to it so you can pour it yourself and dose it, it is piping hot as a sauce should be.
The bun is a delicious brioche bun that is soft and lightly toasted, it tastes great. On top of the top bun, there is a dollop of béarnaise cream which tastes ok without being showy, there are some homemade pork knuckles and French potatoes which give a bit of a crunch, and it is nicely decorated with some greens. The upper bun is smeared on the inside with some mustard ravagotti cream I think and it is on the sour side. The onions have also found their way into this steak sandwich and we find raw red onions, pickled red onions which are again on the sour side, soft onions which are far too sour (should be sweet) and fried onions which are bland (plain roasted onions would have been better). There are home-pickled beetroots which taste lovely and home-pickled cucumbers again a bit too sour. On top of the glory we find a fried egg, it tastes ok and breaks the sourness a little, normally I'm not really into eggs in steak sandwiches, but here I wouldn't have wanted to do without it. The steak is huge, yes as much as 300 grams, the steak is unfortunately overcooked, but the meat is definitely of a good quality because it still tastes really good, I would have liked and hoped for a pink fried steak, but I understand that it is difficult to hit it with so much meat. The under bun is fried with the steak on the pan so that it is almost sunk into the bun, I have not seen it before but it's a fun idea. In several places there are massive amounts of small pepper and mustard seeds, it is different and gives a slightly more acidic experience. The sauce is a pepper sauce with some wine and alcohol in it, it tastes quite nice but is again on the sour side. The palatable taste experience can be summed up very simply, it is sour and only sour. Every single component is homemade and there is plenty of everything and there is lots of love, but the acid in the food was too much for us, maybe if there had been remoulade in it (which is stated on the menu card, but which we could not find the shadow of) it could have done the opposite. We had to leave maybe 100 grams of meat each, it was too violent with so much meat. We can't recognize the nomination for best steak and onion, but it's still a taste experience, even if the acid is still on the palate after 2 hours. We gave DKK. 180.- which is not unreasonable, but it wasn't a huge columnar experience, but a sour one that made us full. Thanks for the food
02/01/2025: Wow! I am pleasantly surprised! There was nothing to complain about in terms of food, and the staff were particularly top class. Can definitely recommend their food as a takeaway. Really good experience!
