Kjøbstaden Syddjurs

Kjøbstaden is a restaurant located on a side street in the heart of Ebeltoft, making it a bit quieter. The restaurant offers a menu inspired by French cuisine as well as Danish classics. When we arrived, the restaurant was practically empty, despite its huge beer garden and two floors. We sat on the front terrace and were promptly given the concise menu. They had even thought of our dog and promptly provided him with a water bowl. A definite plus! After several days of indulging, we each opted for just one main course. I had a Caesar salad with chicken breast, and my partner chose the Stjernekaster (a type of Danish pastry). Perhaps the Caesar salad wasn't the best choice, but after days of feasting, I wanted something lighter. While the salad was fresh and crisp, and the shaved Parmesan was plentiful, the dressing was very weak and didn't do justice to the amount of salad, making it seem a bit dry. The supposedly crispy chicken was unfortunately only lightly seared and came in small pieces. A whole, seared chicken breast or even a breaded piece of meat would have been a much better alternative. The salad was okay, but definitely nothing special. My own fault? Perhaps I should have ordered the burger like the table next to me, because it looked really good. 😂 The breaded fish was very good, and the crab and smoked salmon were fresh and of good quality. The two sprigs of asparagus, however, were a joke. The amount of vegetables was extremely inadequate and seemed more like an afterthought. Overall, though, we were full and had a very pleasant evening on the restaurant's terrace in the sunshine.

Great food, you can never go wrong with the market. The staff is welcoming and friendly.

Delicious lunch at Kjøbstaden. We had Stjernekaster, burger and vegetarian Caesar salad. All three dishes tasted really good. We had really good and competent service. We paid 840 kr, which is an ok price in relation to taste, portion size and service.

Got the best Aperol mixed by Conrad. :-)

Got the evening menu and it was a good experience, Seared Tuna, Vol Au Vent and Creme Brûlée with Vanilla Ice Cream.

They offer very good food at good prices. The service was quick, but after the food and drinks were served, there was a slight dip in motivation; they didn't ask if we wanted more drinks or dessert. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I ended up going inside to pay, and the young waiter only came out of the kitchen after a while. Nevertheless, it's a recommendable restaurant.

I was here last night for dinner, the food was absolutely fantastic, and the service was top notch and it was an incredibly nice experience to come here. Beautiful restaurant and great atmosphere. There was a short wait for the food even though it was fully booked, I also got a delicious and fresh drink. I was served the catch of the day, which today was cod, which was super delicious, well prepared and with fresh side dishes. My boyfriend got a Paris steak, with fries and barbecue/chili mayo. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious, and you could clearly taste that the food was homemade and home-pickled. Købstaden gets ten out of ten stars from here and we will happily come again and again. Thank you for a delicious meal! 😊🤩
