Kohalen Aarhus

As always, a super good experience with Christmas lunch on the boat. I went on 9 November this year and had vegetarian food. It was quite ok, but you have fallen off a bit compared to 2023, when I had 8 dishes of vegetarian food and it was the best I have had in a long time. This year I only got 3 dishes. It all tasted good, but I missed a little more food and especially when my friends got something more in their big Christmas menu. However, it must be said that the price was not the same as on the big Christmas menu, but DKK 100 cheaper. Hope you will take note of the amount of food... I will be back on December 21 for another Christmas lunch with you.🍻🍻🎅

It is always a pleasure to come to Kohalen, but we had asked to sit in a certain place when we booked a table. This was no problem as we ordered in good time, but unfortunately they could not give us the seats 😔 we had been promised. It was a familiar servitude

I was part of a group of almost 15 who held Christmas lunch at Kohalen. I have been to quite a few Christmas lunches with my workplaces throughout my life, and I have usually had a hard time with Danish Christmas food. Too cool, too bland. But I have to promise that Kohalen can lift the traditions, so it will be a real pleasure. Fantastically delicious. Good bread, delicious dishes. Friendly service, cozy premises.

Good tasty solid traditional Danish food. We got today's menu, consisting of a large shrimp cocktail with dressing and delicious bread. Large, tasty and tender pepper steak (beef fillet) with braised whole potatoes, fried cabbage and vegetables (including carrots) and a fantastically tasty pepper sauce. The dessert was old-fashioned apple cake (applesauce with macaroons and whipped cream) with currant jelly on top. Yum! For the tidy sum of DKK 399. The portions were large! We were full when we left. Service minded waiters Authentic surroundings (70s style), noise level a little high when there are many guests in the restaurant

Nice and cozy place. Delicious food, big portions. The only thing I could have wished was different was that there had been real whipped cream on my dessert.

Wir hatten 3 verschiedene Smørrebrød einmal Scholle Kit Remoulade, einmal schweinebauch und einmal hünchensalat. Hähnchen und schweinebauch waren superlecker, die Scholle war zu weit gebremsten (frittiert?) und auch zu salzig. Ansonsten super. Auch der Service war sehr gut und nett. Das Ambiente war typisch dänisch. Die Toiletten hätten deutlich gepflegter sein können.

Then it was the Kohalen restaurant in Aarhus that must have tested their steak sandwich and since they have been in the running for Denmark's best steak sandwich for several years, expectations are high. Arrived at 11.45 a quarter of an hour before we had booked a table and were immediately greeted nicely and shown to a table. We immediately ordered and at exactly 12.10 the food was served. Wow, what an orgy for the eyes and my first thought was, there is probably a lot of food here and it looks nice. The bun is a home-baked slightly coarse bun with sesame on it which is robust and tasted good, the steak is large enough I would guess at 250 grams and it is perfectly fried and pink in the middle and tastes lovely, perhaps missing a little more fried crust. There were home-roasted onions which were wonderful, pickled sour beets and cucumbers which tasted heavenly. In addition, there were brown onions and a compote of some kind where there were small pieces of cauliflower, carrots and mustard pickles. Around there were also some pickled pearl onions. The brown sauce tasted like the ice at the polar circle melted and there was plenty of it. It is the most robust steak sandwich with sauce I have had in DK in all my tests and the most porky in a good way, there was plenty of everything and even ketchup, mustard and remoulade were homemade. This steak sandwich is made with love and unfortunately I couldn't eat it, which rarely happens. Lovely authentic place with lovely people and a really good atmosphere. NOK 239.- for this food orgy including some delicious potatoes that we couldn't eat. It is a fair price and 5 out of 5 stars definitely belongs in the top of the Superliga in Denmark. If you are hungry and want delicious food in Aarhus, this is the place. Thanks for the food…
