Mefisto Aarhus

The food was great okay, fish for the main course great but the fish in the starter tough and tasteless, the soup was good. Vegetables for the main course were hard and poorly cooked. Dessert fine.

Mefisto is a place that knows its stuff. They make really delicious food and they are masters at matching the right wine. The service is usually excellent and you can be sure of a smiling service every time. A few waiters are more stingy with their smiles, but it seems more like personal insecurity than, for example, apathy or arrogance. The atmosphere is cozy and good. If you are lucky enough to sit in the Salonen, you can enjoy the specially decorated room that buzzes with French and maritime sensations. However, you can also be unlucky and sit right next to their small 'kitchen area' where the waiters make coffee and constantly rattle with service and chatter. This is perhaps what you can expect (although it can certainly seem disturbing) but what bothers the most is the unbearable doorbell that constantly rings in said tea/service kitchen every time someone goes in and out of the front door. It's not a small ping, but that 90's doorbell that plays a whole melody of a carillon. This means that you can't enjoy the atmosphere or even just hear the pleasant music that is played out of the speakers. A huge shame. But the food and the wine and the rest of the atmosphere at most other tables than right there, you can't put your finger on. But that doorbell there, something needs to be done about it, otherwise they will lose customers.

Beautiful food! Friendly helpful service. Over the past years I have eaten here with different kind of people, we're all united in our judgement: spot on!

An absolute gem ! The best pizzas with the best dough i have had yet. The dough is thin crust with perfect amount of crunch . The topping is fresh and there are some new mixes like the goat cheese , hazelnut, goats cheese and honey 🍯 😋. We had 4 different pizzas each one top-class! Warmly recommend 👌. For dessert we had the home made tiramisu that really picked me up !

Seafood restaurant in a cozy atmosphere

Delicious food and nice rooms. Unfortunately, not all the staff were welcoming.

We were here for Christmas lunch. I think we had a total of 10 dishes. Everything was really delicious. But I have to highlight the herring and breaded fish, which were exceptionally good. We will be back :-)

I am coeliac and came here with some colleagues hoping for the best, but not knowing how well they accommodated for gluten free.....and this restaurant was absolutely brilliant! The servers were very knowledgeable on how each dish could be augmented for me, were familiar with cross contamination, and gave me the best warm bread roll I've had at a restaurant! I had the salmon tartar starter and turbot as my main and both were full of flavour. The restaurant itself is cozy and very inviting and I would highly recommend to anyone who wants some lovely seafod with or without gluten :)

Amazing cozy place with delicious food and super welcoming service. The place has a tasty and welcoming design, climatic music. It’s definitely considered a must visit in Aarhus. If is was very hungry, I’d go for their tasting menu. This time is just wanted to have a taste of their signature half of lobster with home made fries. It was delicious. I also had a soft serve ice cream for dessert - yummy. Will revisit for sure 💚
