07/08/2025: Really lovely experience at Gjerrild Vandrehjem. We were greeted by friendly staff, and were also shown around the hostel. The room was nice and clean, and there were lots of things for the children to do, both pillow rooms and lots of play facilities. The shared kitchen was also well maintained, and the other guests were good at cleaning up after themselves. The breakfast buffet was ok for the small amount you pay for it, and when my wife asked to have her eggs cooked a little longer, it was arranged without any problems. The service was top notch, very friendly staff who wanted to talk and share stories. We were even offered a beer by the local brewer. It is not far to the local beach where the children bathed and found petrified sea urchins. And Djurst sommerland and Randers rainforest are also just a short drive away. Overall we are very satisfied with our stay at Gjerrild Vandrehjem. And we will definitely come back another time if we plan a vacation in the area. Regards Emma, Maya, Nicholas, Sushila and Peter.

22/07/2025: A place with great potential that unfortunately does not live up to. We stayed at the hostel for two nights in high season with two small children. The price is too high compared to what you get for the money. The room was small for the price and unfortunately a little dirty. The shared kitchen is very sparse with only a small stove and four pots, which created a slightly stressful atmosphere among the many families with children on site who wanted to cook at the same time. An extra stove or two would be a big upgrade. The breakfast is OK, but does not at all live up to the expectations the place itself sets with their descriptions of the food. The host couple seem nice but are absent and the information is sparse. The hostel is otherwise quiet and child-friendly and located in beautiful surroundings in a quiet town close to the beach and nature. But many things could be done better - unfortunately it seems a bit like the host couple has lost their breath. We hope they come back strong.
