On June 6th at 6:00 PM, 2 friends and I went to Restaurant Nögen for the first time. I have been there several times for cocktails, but never for food. We had all ordered their 10-course menu. Since I am very happy with their cocktails, I ordered a cocktail menu with food, while my friends got the Nögen menu with beer, wine and cocktails.
This evening their cocktails focused on oranges, while the food focused on oranges and mushrooms, as they had brought home half a ton of oranges after the Jelling Festival, as well as a lot of mushrooms.
The food was generally really delicious, and we were especially excited about the main course, which this evening was confit duck with red cabbage and grilled pointed cabbage. The duck was perfect, the pointed cabbage was delicious and the red cabbage is probably the best red cabbage I have ever had.
2 out of the 3 snacks we had were really good, the last one was a bit meh.
The dessert tasted like brown sugar, which was delicious, albeit a very heavy dish.
My friends praised their drink menus, where they were especially enthusiastic about their glass of red wine, which they thought complimented the other dishes really well. I was also very happy with all the cocktails I got. Here I think my starter cocktail and my main course cocktail were especially good!
Overall, all three of us left with a really good experience, where we all agreed that we would recommend it to others, and that the concept is really cool, but that it also requires some skilled chefs and bartenders to be able to change the menus so often.
We would also like to praise the waiters and bartenders for really good service, and who were not afraid to have a little chat with us about what the concept is like, and at the same time had a twinkle in their eye in relation to joining in and receiving jokes.
Therefore, you naturally deserve 5 stars from us. Keep up the good work!

Really nice place! Good food and nice waiters. However, just use scented candles and air fresheners for the abundant side. A bit small portions

Really delicious food and the best and most generous service I could wish for. Chose to celebrate my almost 40th birthday at Nögen and how glad I was that I did. We even had some of the main courses changed for those who didn't eat pork, even though we hadn't given notice in advance. Huge kudos to your friendly staff and to the chefs for their delicious food and ability to think outside the box.

Absolutely fantastic! We went in to grab a quick bite to eat with no booking and were squeezed in and pleasantly surprised with the options being a 5 or 7 course tasting menu! We went for 5 and enjoyed every single mouthful! The restaurant is sustainable, making use of ingredients that would otherwise go to waste which makes for some interesting combinations like their apple and tomato sorbet with lemon curd and meringue (our personal favourite) highly recommend the cocktail flight too! Plenty on one flight to share between two. My favourite restaurant in Aarhus, can’t wait for our next trip so we can go back again!

We went as a group of 10 and were looked after perfectly. Nögen's concept is interesting in that its set menu is determined by whatever ingredients were available on the day - it uses ingredients that would otherwise be thrown out. The chefs turn these into delicious courses that are served in groups (courses) in the social dining manner, i.e., food is not plated up individually but served on larger plates from which each diner helps themselves. Most dishes were easily sharable, some required a little bit of restraint by those having early goes, but it all worked out very well.
The food was delicious - each course was creative and flavoursome. A great place to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
