Royal Aarhus

Family stayed in the Hotel for the week. Everything we asked for was done well - instantly by staff. (Way to go!) Beautiful and historic painting adorn regal common spaces and luxuriously unique rooms. Our time there was a nice reprieve from our sight-seeing adventures.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel twice and can unequivocally recommend it. From a decor point of view, absolutely amazing. Steeped in history, like stepping back in time! From the entrance, the fish tank at reception, the old style key rack, the old lift, the decorative furniture. Super big room. But on the downside, power sockets difficult to find and not ideally placed. They work on lights so no straight forward. Even with lights on in room, it is rather dark. Lots of noise from other rooms coming through. WiFi incredibly poor. Breakfast comfortable. Service friendly. Reasonable price but lacks the facilities and comfort expected in a more modern hotel.

The hotel is indeed royal. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Aarhus and this is best one (price/quality-wise) so far. Baroque style makes this Aarhus Royal different from all other hotels in Aarhus. If you want to stay with chic for the fair price this the right place. Both hotel and rooms (even the simplest ones) are royally decorated, covered with carpets and wall paintings/frescoes. Rooms have huge bathrooms and cozy beds. And location! It’s just close to everything. The only part I would improve is breakfast. It’s not very reach comparing to other (even cheaper hotels) in Aarhus where I stayed.

Gorgeous and I mean gorgeous hotel. Decadent with oil paintings on every wall and a central elevator that screams in style. Rooms are also spacious, clean and the overall location is great for exploring the local nightlife. Craft beer, food and general shopping are all a short walk away along the canal ways. Service was polite, courteous and from a reception that has fish in it.... need I say more!

The hotel was built in 1838 and it certainly shows it’s history. There’s not much in terms of modern comforts in here. No key cards, you will need instructions from the front desk to operate the lights in the room, the bathrooms don’t look like they have been updated for a long time, but none of this takes away it’s charm. It’s like you’re stepping into an Agatha Christie murder mystery hotel. Location is fantastic as it’s very central. Parking is difficult. You get 15mins at the door before you have to drive to a large underground parking lot about 10mins walk away.
