Barabba København

This is one of our spots we always have to go to whenever we’re in Copenhagen. The food here is absolutely delicious and there’s no place quite like it. It’s a requirement to get the caviar pasta. Get 2! My husband and I have decided that we can’t share it. The food here is super flavorful and each dish usually has a little twist which makes each dish really special. The menu changes often but just trust! I am a pescatarian and always find a lot of options but personally, I think if you have a dietary restriction, it’s worth doing the à la carte over the tasting menu. In the past I found the substitutions for me not as good as if I just had fun going crazy with the menu myself. The people are also so friendly and it has really maintained a neighborhood feel. The inside is also pretty vibey and it’s really fun to belt out to the playlist in the bathroom (you’ll see). This place is killer and it’s always a top rec to our friends when they go to Copenhagen!

I did the tasting menu. I had emailed a month ahead to make sure they could accommodate my dairy and shrimp allergies, and they had said they could. When I got there, they looked surprised and acted like this was the first time hearing of it. They went through the menu and said they can accommodate but I will not get one of the courses. I had to push back and ask to replace it since they didn't say they would change the price. This part of the experience gave the impression the operation side of things aren't as smooth as I'd expect from this kind of restaurant. As for the food, my favorites were the bread and olive oil, and beef tartar with strawberries on top. Few of the courses were much too salty, I couldn't eat it (octopus, pasta). One of the pastas, half of the pasta was undercooked and hard/dry, and I like al dente. Overall, Barabba had a lot of potential but did not deliver.

I wouldn’t come back but it’s a nice place to stop by if you’ve tried everything else. Of the entrees served, there’s one or two that help you forget how bad the others were. Service was mixed as well, one moment you get a server that has a story to tell about the entree, the next is just a drop and dash. Atmosphere is nice but if you want to spend 150usd and you want to walk out satisfied, this is not the place.

It’s a small lovely quiet restaurant suitable for first dates with the pockets. The food flavors didn’t work for me.

Exceptional in every sense of the word. It’s minimalist, feels italian and isn’t pretending to be it (cause it IS italian). It was clear the focus of the experience was the food and it absolutely delivered. It was like it’s taste was potent and explosive; rich and colorful. the service was straightforward and they displayed great pride in their food, though implicitly. They didn’t bother you every second. We had the tasting menu and I can only recommend it.

Courteous and excellent service brought us an amazing meal of delicious dishses. Every single dish was excellent and I would happily enjoy them all again, but the Maccheroncini with Lamb Genovese and Parmigiano was the star of the tasting menu. Amazing!!! Gracie mille!

I didn’t really know what to expect from this place, as I had only heard that it was an “higher end Italian restaurant”. When I arrived it was nothing as I expected as it was far more relaxed, small and dark compared to what I had imagined. However, the experience was really great. Incredible food (I had the tasting menu) and perfect wine matching. Even though one of the wines was nothing I’d like to drink by itself, it was the perfect match to the dish it was served to. I’d also like to thank the server that I unfortunately don’t remember the name of (newly employed, from Italy) for an excellent and really welcoming service. It was nice to have someone to talk to when visiting the restaurant by myself. The only negative I can mention is that there was a slight “sewer-ish” smell coming from the toilets a couple of times. Not that it bothered me much, as it was just noticeable.

We had the most wonderful dinner experience at Barabba. The food is excellent, italien with a touch of Nordic. The wine selection is precise and we received great advice to try new wines and pair them with our dishes. Overall, service was top notch: personal and authentic but not overwhelming . This is definitely a place to put on your must try list when visiting Copenhagen.
