Nice cozy café on Torvet in Hillerød with a view of the castle lake. There is a nice menu with a bit of variety. Definitely recommended from here

Long waiting times for the orders and they come separately (literally 20 mins apart). However, the views and the taste are good. Come here fed, get hungry while waiting, enjoy the view during.

The tables on the terrace overlooking the lake work really well. There is a cozy atmosphere and the kitchen could easily figure out how to make the four different dishes. The beef tenderloin was the best, the fish and chips came with a really good tartar sauce, the fried pork was good, but the parsley sauce lacked a bit of depth and the burger was just as it should be. Everything was OK, handled by Café Kik without being anything extraordinary.

Super service, super interior and location but I think the food is a bit lacking. The sound is really good in the cafe and I never experienced any problems with noise! I have been to the cafe several times and think, among other things, the Caesar salad and salmon mousse on bread are really sad. The schnitzel is fantastic in return. The pickled vegetables they use on several dishes, however, in my eyes WAY too pickled and quite a waste. Narxhos is ok. Their lemonade is synthetic and tastes like toilet cleaner scents. Their remaining drinks are also really nice.

21/04/2026: We have visited Restaurant Ellegården several times for parties, and it is always a pleasure. There is a very special calm and atmosphere in the idyllic premises that makes you feel welcome immediately. The food is always top-notch – classic dishes made with good ingredients, where nothing is ever lacking. The details are well thought out, and the service is professional and with a smile, even if there are many people at the table. It is clear that they have extensive experience in handling parties, so that as a host you can just sit back and enjoy the party. If you are looking for a place in Hillerød with soul, good food and personal service, Ellegården can be highly recommended. We are already looking forward to the next time!
