Cafe Rabes Have København

The staff were friendly and always asked what customers wanted to eat. I ordered the herring curry, which was quite strong. I think it was meant to be eaten with bread. I should have checked more carefully; it was cold that day and I wanted something warm, but the dish was cold.

Old School Danish 'smørrebrød'. Well made classics. The place is sort of a hidden gem and definitely well worth a visit.

A super quaint, long-established restaurant. Only Danes around me. Very friendly service with the right recommendations for the amount and type of smørrebrød. I'll definitely be back!

IT es un lugar en Copenhague 🇩🇰 que tiene un estilo de vida "diferente". . ¡Y eso es lo menos que se puede decir! 😅 Les gusta llamarse Freetown porque consideran que son independientes. No conozco muy bien su historia y no estoy seguro de que sean independientes de ninguna manera pero ese es un lugar peculiar, alternativo seguro. 😅 IT es aún más peculiar porque IT encuentra en la misma isla - ish como la Ópera y Noma, y frente al Centro Arkitektur. Es una mezcla extraña. 🤔 Al otro lado de la isla, hay un barrio llamado Christianshavn, lleno de canales, casas flotantes y cafés. Así que bougie y hippies básicamente comparten la misma isla. 👏 Loco. De camino a Christiania, paramos a almorzar en el lugar más auténtico que pudimos encontrar en Christianshavn: Café Rabes Have. Si pudiera imaginarme un restaurante típico en Dinamarca, sería IT. Si pudiera imaginarme el típico servidor de Dinamarca, ahora que pasé unos días allí, esa también sería la camarera que nos atendió: inicialmente muy grosera, no nos aceptaba porque éramos una fiesta demasiado grande, pero luego encontró un lugar y hasta fue amable con los niños. En general, la comida era buena (excepto el brisket que básicamente era un poco de carne hervida) , especialmente la solla. Y, de nuevo, eso se veía tan típico. 👍 Ahora los platos eran realmente pequeños y no comimos lo suficiente con 1 plato cada uno ( 2 tampoco sería suficiente, me temo) por 125 DKK (17€ ). Básicamente eso era solo un bocadillo, así que era caro. ¿Hay algún lugar tradicional con precios normales en esta ciudad? 😓 Realmente tengo sentimientos encontrados sobre esa experiencia: nos divertimos, estoy seguro de que tuvimos una experiencia típica, la comida era buena, pero nada era genial, el servidor era grosero (a veces) y no había suficiente comida. . . . Ever heard of Christiania❓ It's a place in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 that has a "different" lifestyle.. And that's the least you can say! 😅 They like calling themselves Freetown cause they consider they're independent. I don't know their history very well and I'm not sure they're independent in any way but that's a peculiar, alternative place for sure. 😅 It's even more peculiar because it's located on the same island-ish as the Opera and Noma, and in front of the Arkitektur Center. That's a weird mix. 🤔 On the other side of the island, there's a neighborhood called Christianshavn, full of canals, houseboats and cafes. So bougie and hippies basically share the same island. 👏 Crazy. On our way to Christiania, we stopped for lunch at the most authentic place we could find in Christianshavn: Cafe Rabes Have. If I could picture a typical restaurant in Denmark, that would be it. If I could picture the typical server in Denmark, now that I spent a few days there, that would also be the waitress who attended us: initially very rude, she wouldn't accept us because we were a too big party, but then she found a spot and was even nice to the kids. 🤷 Overall, the food was good (except the brisket that basically was some boiled meat), especially the plaice. And, again, that looked so typical. 👍 Now the plates were really small and we didn't eat enough with 1 course each (2 wouldn't be enough either, I'm afraid) for DKK125 (€17). Basically that was just a snack so that was expensive. Is there a traditional place with normal prices in this city?! 😓 I really have mixed feelings about that experience: we had fun, I'm sure we had a typical experience, the food was good, but nothing was great, the server was rude (sometimes) and there was not enough food. . . . Everything was great! Delicious food tasting like home made, prepared with attention. Relaxed atmosphere outdoors. Interesting coffee.

It is a warm and cozy place serving traditional dishes. We had smoked salmon with spinach and roasted beef with potato salad, both served with rye bread. Not outstanding, but comforting. Will visit again if chances arise.
