As a (rare) admirer of modernist 1960s/70s high-rise buildings, this hotel caught my eye. For this somewhat unusual reason, I booked my stay.
I reserved a small standard room, which turned out to be the size of a small apartment. My room had a city view, and in the morning, I was surprised by a beautiful sunrise.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean room, and it's great to see the hotel is committed to sustainability.
If I ever find myself in Aalborg again, I will definitely return to this hotel.

A decent hotel but the main purpose is to provide a place to sleep, and sleeping here is not easy. We stayed 5 nights and not once did I get a decent night sleep. Two reasons:
Room was always too hot. We asked for a change of room to air conditioning but were told that there are none. We could see air conditioning units, and Booking.com says all rooms are air conditioned. They are not. And there are no windows that can be opened. A door can be opened slightly for some air.
Pillows are hopelessly soft. Supposedly you can ask for a range of pillows, which we did, but all were so soft that I had neck ache which got worse over the week.
Staff generally sullen and don’t help.

We had a mixed experience at the Hvid Haus. The hotel is currently under renovation. It will be a nice modern place when complete I think. It is quite central with a short walk to town and near the park which is lovely. There do seem to be some issues with processes and communication between staff.
Positives- nice room newly decorated with comfy bed but quite small room. Very clean though. Breakfast ok with a good choice but coffee not great.
Negatives- the rooms are very hot. It was only 14 degrees at night outside but room was roasting. Even though we faced the park it was still too noisy to open the door at night. So if it was a warm summer day then it would be pretty unbearable. There does appear to be air conditioning units but even though it says on some websites the hotel has a/c we were told by reception there were no rooms with air conditioning. The rooms aren’t cleaned every day which is fine as daily cleaning is unnecessary but if you want the room cleaned then you need to scan the app the night before not that day - this isn’t mentioned till you get to the end of the requesting process. Staff weren’t welcoming when we arrived but later in our stay were nicer and more helpful. Overall it did feel a bit chaotic with a lack of communication between staff - as we requested a late check out and they agreed which was great but then someone came knocking on our door to see if we were checking out two hours before the late check out. Then on check out we were asked to pay for late check out which had not been mentioned before. It’s not unreasonable to request payment for late check out but they should have said. Then we were asked to pay for chocolate we hadn’t had. So all in all a bit annoying and left us feeling out of sorts.

Typical Comwell hotel, everything clean, a bit dated, relatively expensive, with a very good breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, you have to pay for parking, even though it's an outdoor space. Unfortunately, the cushions were a problem for me; when you lie down, your head could just as easily be resting on the mattress. Very friendly reception staff.

The house is huge and incredibly tall by Danish standards (14 habitable floors plus two additional floors), so you get great views of the city from the upper floors.
The house is in good condition, but clearly dates back to the late 1900s.
A small warning for those with a fear of heights – you can easily exit all the rooms onto the narrow walkway outside – and then you're standing there with a fairly simple and low railing, right on the edge of the abyss. But you don't have to go outside 😜

A good holiday experience often starts with a good hotel. Where service, cleaning and comfort are in order. There were very few things missing here to make it top notch. Nice rooms with a good view of most of Aalborg. Nice and varied breakfast buffet and good conditions for families with children.
