We went to Contento as a group of 8 on the basis of a word of mouth recommendation. Now Copenhagen is full of very good and fashionable restaurants many in central locations with prices to match. So the idea of going further afield to a Spanish Basque restaurant for a few tapas meant that it had to be worth it either quality or price had to be the reason. Well Contento manages to excel at both. The restaurant is unprepossessing, cosy and lively. The waiting staff welcoming courteous and efficient. We ordered a mix of recommended small dishes which included a divine tortilla with moist salt cod, perfect foie gras, exquisitely tasty grilled prawns (worth the trek alone), excellent anchovies, padrons and chorizo but the best was to come. The Txuleta rib eye steak on the grill was to die for certainly the best I have had. It was tender, perfectly cooked, exuding succulence, harmony of smokiness with perfect caramelisation with blended seasoning. So often it gets over salted. The walk to the restaurant was more that worth it. But a final recommendation turned out to be irresistible the Basque cheese cake yet another tour de force. The wines Grillo, Frappato were well priced and while we had a number of bottles their modest alcohol made sure we were not too heady for the walk back. We were as you might imagine very impressed. It is rare to find a place where each dish is excellent, prices of food and wine not prohibitive and also centrally placed. Ok it's a little way from Nyhavn but I would strongly recommend making the detour. Having looked at other reviews it seems a lot of people agree.

This place was favorable reviewed by Politiken so we wanted to try. It did not disappoint. The tapas and small dishes were better and more original than some places in Barcelona. They have an extensive wine list or by the glass. Bonus: prices were more than reasonable. Highly recommended

Besøgte contendo for 5. Gang. Nyder både mad, drikke og betjening. Som at være i Baskerlandet. Vi kunne tømme baren for de lækre baskiske tapas. Det er altså et helt unikt sted det her.

A restaurant that delivers authentic Spanish food. Classically Danish pricey but you get great quality unlike some other restos. Totally recommend and will come here more often again with my Spanish partner.
