A great place with a great view. A very pleasant walk up the hill. Skiing is only possible halfway down the slope (that's how the drag lift works). The waste incinerator may not emit toxic substances, but waste does stink before it's burned, so a coffee at the top may not be the most pleasant experience.

In Copenhagen there is an extraordinary place where it is possible to ski, trek or climb what, at first glance, might seem like a natural mountain, but which is actually a latest generation plant for the production of clean energy.
It's called CopenHill, and it's much more than a simple incinerator: it's a concrete example of how technology and sustainability can transform waste into resources, without any CO₂ emissions.
💡 A plant that transforms waste into energy
CopenHill burns 70 tons of waste per hour, converting it into clean energy for 150,000 homes. According to local authorities, thanks to the latest generation filters, no harmful gases come out of the chimney, but only water vapor, making the process completely sustainable.
🎿 Where energy meets sport
What makes CopenHill truly unique is its dual function: in addition to producing energy, it was designed to offer the city's inhabitants an open-air sports facility, accessible all year round.
On its roof, 90 meters high, a 200 meter slope has been created, where ski slopes, hiking routes and climbing walls have been built.
🏂 Ski all year round, with or without snow
There are three slopes, with different difficulty levels and equipped with ski lifts, slalom courses, freestyle courses and even an Olympic halfpipe. The surface covering, designed by the Italian company Neveplast, is totally recyclable and made in five shades of green, to reproduce the effect of a natural lawn.
🧗♂️ Not just skiing: trekking and climbing on a green roof
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, trekking and climbing enthusiasts can enjoy scenic routes and the world's tallest climbing wall on a building, which extends 85 meters high.
CopenHill is much more than a plant: it is a revolution in the concept of urban sustainability, demonstrating that even an incinerator can become a space for fun, sport and well-being for the community.
🌱 The future of cities passes through here: clean energy, innovation and green spaces, all in one place!
