Darcy’s Kaffe København

We bought for 354 DKK (around €47.50) for 2 people: porridge, a cinnamon bun, a sandwich, a chai latte with oat milk and a flat white with oat milk. Everything was really very good, with well-balanced flavors and fresh products, except the sandwich which lacked a little taste. The setting is warm, perfect for having a good time in complete tranquility. It's a bit expensive, but that's the price in Copenhagen. An excellent choice for a light meal or a coffee break in a cozy place.

Chef Katie’s legacy clearly lives on through this fine establishment! I know it has not been long since my last visit, but I recently found employment at a furniture brand (cannot name due to legal reasons) and they immediately sent me off to Copenhagen to sample innovations in wood-finished recliner chairs. That is to say that I have found myself back at Darcy’s Kaffe!!!! Let’s get in to it as there’s lots to cover… I walked along the high street towards Darcy’s on a cold, delicate and lovely morning weather-wise. I was highly hopeful that Chef Katie might be back at work running the kitchen, and immediately I recognised (or so I thought) her super cool fringe plating up some whipped butter, which was presented on a cake dish (see picture #2). But I was quite taken a back to learn that it was not chef Katie! Chef Katie talks with an Australian accent. This new chef must have learnt from chef Katie because they displayed a similar above and beyond work ethic, which we will get to soon enough. I attended Darcy’s with my beautiful wife and her younger sister, keen to introduce them to the egg plate. My wife and I ordered the egg plate, naturally, whilst the sister went rogue and ordered a toasted cheese sandwich. Boy did I learn a valuable lesson. Toasting cheese inside bread is an incredible innovation. The cheese used was a strong independent cheese, and it was accompanied by two small gherkins. But the stand out for me was the cranberry sauce. I swear I could have eaten it on its own. Bravo to the new chef in town! As for the egg plates, the egg itself was a work of art, an orange-yellow yolk, oozing with all things glorious and almighty. The mortadella added a natural saltiness that was well matched with the espresso salt. The food was delicious, all washed down by a filtered coffee filled right to the brim of a classic-style porcelain mug. But the real hero of the day, the stand out was this new chef in town that carried themselves like the Chef Katie of old. The food was hand delivered by the chef to our table and I could have been transported back to my first day in this Kaffe! It bought a tear to my eye and I feared that everyone saw me crying. After some time, my beautiful wife and her sister consoled me and walked me out, but I soon realised that these were not tears of shame or sadness, no. These were tears of relief, tears of joy and profound ecstasy. You see, I have found chef Katie after all… she’s all around me at Darcy’s Kaffe. She’s in the above and beyond service, she’s in the whipped butter, she’s in the care to detail. She’s a warm hug, a mother’s embrace. Chef Katie IS darcy’s IS egg plate. When I come back on January 25 2025, I will order an egg plate.

Perfect for students. Is self-service. Is simply constructed. Food and baked goods sell out quickly.

It’s all good! 🤍 Latte was pretty good, americano a bit acidic but ok, but we had a weirdly rude?! experience with a person from the staff… for some reason she was a bit rude when we asked if we can sit at a table with our laptops saying “if it says no laptops, no laptops!”. We simply asked very kindly, since at the next table there was a woman sitting with her laptop, so we thought of confirming with the staff that the table we asked about was indeed a no-laptops table, cause we thought it was a bit weird that at the same spot, one table was allowed and the other wasn’t. Secondly, we were about to get to the bathroom area and she pointed out to us in a weird/rude (again!) manner that there’s someone else inside. Of course we would’ve knocked the door and not barge in. The weird thing is that before me and right after, my friends also visited the bathroom and both had people trying to open the door without knocking. So for some reason, she thought of rudely pointing out that there’s someone inside JUST to us and not to anyone else going in, even though the bathroom was occupied. Note: we were 5 people and 3 of us felt the same way about the same person. The rest of the staff was kind and friendly 😊

Favourite cafe in Copenhagen! Amazing coffee and sweets, all around good vibes :)

The place is nice and cozy, but what i like the most is that they have options available for vegans or for people who are allergic to lactose! I highly recommend this place!

Coffees and pastries were delicious. Made this a regular morning stop during my visit to Copenhagen.

We had reservations and a waitress placed us at a small table near the window. The service is quite messy (we were once asked to change places because the table was reserved for someone else, we don't really understand if we have to go and order at the counter, we don't really know who's 'address, it's relatively long...). You have to go and order at the counter and unfortunately some things were no longer available. The coffees were good. The service time was quite long. I had a porridge which was good (but it would have been good with a little more generosity on the yogurt or granola) and my friend the croissant which was good but small and not exceptional (perhaps a little salad is missing or something nearby?). Otherwise the place is cute and cozy. I still recommend it but it would be better with a little more organization and more generous dishes 😊

Chef Katie, where art thou??? After two years since my last visit to this fine establishment, and where I discovered the egg plates of all egg plates, I finally saved up enough danish krones to visit my favourite cafe at in the world. In short, this time round was an incredibly delicious and yummy experience, with new pastry offerings and plating techniques. And yet, something was missing… my favourite person I’ve met abroad, chef Katie. Last time I visited, Katie went above and beyond in helping me choose my order, picked me Up when I fell off my chair, and spoke with an Australian accent. I am left wondering where she went. I asked one staff member where chef Katie was. She looked at me with a hint of indifference and said “I’m not sure who that is”, before pouring what looked like a deliciously fresh filtered coffee for a handsome young Couple with a dog in a bag. The world is indeed changing. Is that why chef Katie left? Did she find another establishment where she felt more alive and more zestful for life? Or is there something else maybe more sinister at play? Who knows really… Regardless, I wonder what has become of chef Katie. As I sat wondering, I was brought back to the present through the flakey texture of my double baked almond crossaint. I was brought back to the room with the added mortadella option for the egg plate, the espresso salt, the well executed egg, and knowing that I was in my happy place. Darcy’s you will forever be my happy place. But where is chef Katie? I simply must know.
