A wonderful and unusual place – the moment you enter, you experience a thrill. It's a journey through 150 years – from the underground cells to the 1990s. It's packed with original exhibits, multimedia "meetings" with residents, and an incredible, cinematic story of the escape. It's truly worth spending time here; for younger visitors, there's a game that's as addictive as escaping from an escape room. There's also a shop with some truly unique souvenirs. I highly recommend it!

A fantastically exciting place with lots of exciting stories throughout time. We spent 2 hours getting through it. Definitely recommended.

Exciting to see Europe's largest prison museum. You can go around many buildings and rooms. There are various exciting stories, including about the escape king Carl August Lorentzen, who dug an 18-meter tunnel into freedom. There is an exhibition of confiscated hashish pipes, etc. Finance Minister Alberti sat here. Werner Best sat here.

A fantastic, interesting, and highly interactive museum, even for kids! A free prison rally with puzzles will keep parents engaged, too. Several themed craft rooms with all the necessary craft materials are available. Plan at least 2 hours for your visit (even with children). Children under 18 are free.

It was okay but we had smaller children and it was not very interesting for them. The biker gang stuff, the contraband search game and the escape tunnel were good though and I would still recommend it if people have the time.

02/09/2025: I couldn't have done it better myself! And I rarely say that about a burger. It was juicy. Not like you put dressing on it, but just juicy. The bun was nice and firm, if not made in-house, then by a baker who had good stuff in it, but it wasn't dry. The dressing was a deliciously cunning dijonnaise-like thing. The vegetables were fresh and crispy. The hero was the steak; Thick, juicy, well-done (that's how I like my burger steak) without being dry, well-seasoned and it tasted of grill. The sweet waitress found out why, for us. You can often be a little disappointed when you go into the first and best, open café on a Sunday evening and order a burger because you're hungry, but that was far from the case here; Solid, juicy and well-composed. I'm impressed and that's hard to do with a burger.
