I saw Eric Kragh Vildgaard as a guest chef at Ikarus (Servus TV). Rather than attending guest chef events, I prefer to experience chefs in their own kitchens, Denmark here we come 😊🇩🇰🫶.
We were greeted in Gentofte by Tina Kragh Vildgaard. We had a charming email exchange with her beforehand. We are easygoing guests, but we have a preference regarding seating in the restaurant. Our wishes were fulfilled. "Tina" has a wonderful presence. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with her. All the service staff and the chefs, who repeatedly came to the table and explained dishes, were very jovial but never distant. We experienced excellent, very attentive, and highly competent service.
The restaurant and interior are decorated in a light color palette. Many windows allow natural light into the room. Soft lighting and candlelight create a cozy atmosphere. We really enjoyed it and felt at home right from the moment we arrived at our table. The atmosphere in the dining room developed magnificently over the course of the evening. The international crowd was cheerful and pleasantly loud.
And the "soundtrack" that I often criticize? Vinyl was playing. ABBA, Queen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc., and surprisingly, it worked perfectly.
I could fill pages with text about what we ate. But I won't. One masterpiece after another arrived, far too complex to describe everything in detail. Some of the dishes seem quite pared down. Often, it's only partially clear what you're about to consume. Yet everything you see makes sense. Even the multitude of blossoms is pure aromatic poetry.
Here, they work to the limit. Wafer-thin, delicate, crispy. In terms of quality and craftsmanship, it's hard to beat this. The eye doesn't reveal how incredibly complex the dishes are.
While the nose promises much, the sophisticated gourmet's palate reveals the distinct components, sensational. And so, even I, a "chatterbox," was occasionally speechless with excitement.
Eric's dishes deeply moved me. After many years of enjoying the highest standards, this happens extremely rarely these days, which is why I'm all the more delighted by this feeling. From now on, the Jordnær is my reference for the highest quality and finesse 💯.
My wife and I spontaneously decided that this fantastic experience had to be repeated. And while we're on our way north 🚘, we'd love to combine it with the Haerlin (Hamburg) and the Frantzén (Stockholm). Tina thought our idea was great 😊.

Impeccable! Fine dining with incredible food and sophisticated yet casual service. Thank you so much for having us 🫶🏼
Tina, Eric and team are such wonderful people and truly show they care. It was raining when we visited and they were waiting at the door with umbrellas to bring us inside. I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen at numerous other similar calibre places (e.g French laundry, Odette, le cinq) in similar weather. Odette and le cinq are also in hotels so not many excuses there.
Thé food of course was superlative with creative flavor combos and a judicious use of caviar which I loved. Seriously though, the service was so warm and personal to a whole other level. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It made coming to Copenhagen totally worth it.
We finally had the opportunity to visit again for the First Saturday Of the Month Luncheon in their Private Dining room in June 2025 and everything was as always PERFECT.
We simply cannot recall another *** Michelin Star restaurant anywhere in the world where you feel so welcome from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave.
Erik, Tina and their team just got it right :)
The pre-menu starts strong with 3 appetizers to die for and we can only recommend ordering as much champagne as needed to match.
The menu that follows is a symphony of flavors being build up to a very strong finish.
Depending on your wine preferences there are 3 different pairings plus an amazing bottle wine list to choose from.
For those who love dining at this level Jordnær is a must on the list of restaurants around the world to try.
Just be mindful that the cost per person for the menu, standard wine pairing and extra champagne will set you back approximately $1000,- per person.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do …

Hands down one of the best meals of my life. I am part of a foodies group called Hungries which has a special perk of booking a table right in the kitchen. This is a true treat to see how the chefs work and everyone were so nice and answered any question I had.
Had the non-alcoholic pairing which was exactly what you want from a pairing, it matched the dishes perfectly and balanced it if there was heat or uplifted it if I was a more fresh dish.
The ingredients really tell the story in this restaurant and each dish presented its own complex combination.
The staff were fabulous and super friendly, the owner was charming as well! This elevated the dinner experience as well.
I have been to many restaurants but this one should be on the top of anyone who wants to experience amazing food.

Wow! Where do I even start with the amazing time we had at Jordnær? From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms and guided to our cozy table by the lovely Tina. Our group of four got lucky with a snug spot in the private dining room, complete with a gorgeous wooden table, comfy chairs, and beautiful decor. The natural light pouring in from the windows made everything feel so warm and inviting!
The service was absolutely top-notch. Our fantastic server, Gonçalo, who spoke Portuguese, went above and beyond to make our evening special. He picked out two incredible white wines for us—one was a crisp Riesling, and the other was a luxurious Meursault. And we can’t forget about Max, who made our dessert even better by pairing it with the perfect wine!
Now, let’s dive into the menu! This incredible dining experience featured 17 courses, all highlighting fish, seafood, and vegetables from local, international, and Japanese cuisines—what a bold and exciting approach! Chef Eric and his amazing team turned these ingredients into stunning dishes that were a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. You could truly feel the love and creativity in every bite, making it a joyful celebration of flavor and artistry!
The first part of the meal had 5 “small bites” that were simply outstanding—there was nothing small about their flavor! Everything was fantastic, but the Bluefin Otoro and Rosette Waffle definitely stole the show.
As for the main courses, each dish was not only beautiful but also packed with delicious complexity. It's tough to pick a favorite, but I absolutely loved the Langoustine, Lobster, and Turbot!
And don’t get me started on the desserts—they were beautifully crafted, not overly sweet, and very tasty. Chef Eric even came to our table to chat and share some stories about the dishes and his background, which was really nice.
If I had to find just one tiny suggestion for improvement, it would be about their location. While it’s not bad, a restaurant this fantastic would thrive in an even more vibrant neighborhood.
