Juno the bakery København

Juno is a decent bakery, but the hype has outgrown the reality. Copenhagen is full of excellent bakeries you can walk straight into, queuing an hour for this one is hard to recommend. Takeaway only with a handful of outdoor seats, and the line moves painfully slowly. They could easily speed things up but seem unbothered by it.

Still the best cardamon bun in the universe. Big queue at the door at weekends but no waiting weekday afternoons.

This bakery is clearly popular, as there was still a queue even on a rainy weekend morning. I waited for around half an hour and bought three items to try. I tried the cardamom bun and the soft milk bun with cheese and butter. Personally, I’m not usually a fan of cardamom buns, but as it’s one of the bakery’s most popular items, I decided to give it a try with an open mind. Surprisingly, it left a good impression on me. That said, I preferred the milk bun, which was incredibly soft and fluffy. Its texture reminded me of the soft bread that’s popular in Asia. I also bought a can of Danish butter cookies with a caramel flavour as a souvenir. However, they were firmer than I had expected. It would have been nice if the bakery had offered samples so customers could try them before buying.

Of course like everybody visiting Copenhagen we visited this place and it really wasn’t an overrated place. You have to wait a long line but it doesn’t take that much of time I think. The pastries, desserts were great, not too sweet just the right amount. And the coffee was good.

I regret not ordering a few more Kardemummabullar before leaving. I have had my fair share of pastries all over the world, but nothing compares to Juno's. The Kardemummabullar was soft, warm, and melted in my mouth. The ingredients were on another level. You could taste the sweetness balanced out with each bite. This will be the place I will frequent when I return. I loved that the line moved quickly. Everyone that worked there was super nice and patient. 🩵
