Marcellos Holstebro

Today it is Restaurant Marcellos in Holstebro that will have tested their steak sandwich with gravy. Arrived to a packed restaurant at 11.55, but there was a table for us anyway and since we knew what we wanted we ordered right away. The food was served exactly at 12.08 and the first impression is a bit ambiguous as the steak sandwich looks a bit boring in the deep plate, but it is nice that it is served in a deep plate so there is room for lots of sauce. 🧑‍🍳 The bun is a standard brioche bun which is really nicely toasted both on the outside and inside. The bottom bun is smeared with a nice thin layer of remoulade, I don't think the remoulade is homemade, but the amount is fine. The minced steak is 175-180 grams of dry aged meat and it is simply perfectly seasoned, there is a super nice roast crust and the meat is pink in the middle. Really, really well fried. In addition, we find finely chopped beets that taste ok, but I doubt they are home-pickled. There are some large coarsely pickled red onions that are very sour, the pieces were difficult to cut because they were so large and coarse. There is a nice amount of roasted onions and a Boston relish that tasted really good. Last but not least, there is the sauce and it is a sauce, it is thin, flavorful and strong. There is plenty of it and one of the best sauces I have tasted in a long time. It all comes with a large bowl of large fries that are delicious and crispy and some home-made airoli. The price for this meal is DKK 175.- and it is a completely fair price and I definitely thought they got away with it, although you could miss some soft onions and some pickled cucumbers. But huge praise for the steak, sauce and relish. 4 out of 5 stars can definitely be recommended.

We had the brunch buffet and it was simply worth 5 stars. The reason there are no five stars is that you had to get the food downstairs when you were sitting upstairs. And we could only get a table there. Flint staff, quick service and cozy rooms.

We stumbled upon this place by chance with 11 people, including 2 children and a toddler! Two tables, complete with highchairs, were immediately set up for us. It's incredibly cozy here! The staff are super friendly. We communicated well in English. Everyone was extremely happy with the food, which was served to all of us at once after only a short wait. It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the portions were generous. If we ever come back to Holstebro, we already know exactly where we'll eat!

The employee was apparently in a bad mood. My baby was also given strange looks. We didn't feel like we were welcome as a small family. They only wanted cash and wouldn't give us a receipt at first.
