Lives up to expectations from a Michelin star experience

Visiting a Michelin-starred restaurant comes with certain expectations, particularly regarding service and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this establishment fell short in multiple areas.
While the 6 course tasting menu was pleasant but far from exceptional, it failed to stand out compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants I’ve dined at, particularly in London. The execution was solid, but it lacked the ‘wow’ factor that distinguishes truly outstanding fine dining.
Service was inconsistent. Simon, our main waiter, was exceptional and truly elevated the experience. However, the rest of the staff felt unenthusiastic, grumpy, and unwelcoming, which significantly impacted the atmosphere. Certain service elements were lacking, such as failing to remove crumbs before serving dessert and *not properly folding the napkin when stepping away from the table, both of which are standard expectations in refined dining.
Additionally, the table initially offered was next to the open kitchen, which posed an issue. The ventilation was inadequate, leaving diners at risk of walking out smelling like barbecue… an oversight that could easily be corrected with proper extraction systems.
Fortunately, we opted for a window-side table, which provided a much more enjoyable setting and a lovely view over the square.
Overall, the experience was average, not memorable and if not for Simon’s outstanding service, it would have been a thorough disappointment. Michelin recognition should come with a standard of excellence
not just in food, but in ambiance and service.

Excellent restaurant. The dishes are balanced and tasty. Excellent service. Many thanks to the Chef for an unforgettable dinner experience. Definitely recommended!

Once again a wonderful experience with delicious food and drink and not least good service and smiles. We had brought our three sons and their boyfriends with us - great success 🤗

Great atmosphere, exceptional service. Classic French food mixed with some modern influences. I absolutely love Crêpe Suzette, which is ”préparé devant vous”/served by the table.
I had a simple salad for starter, which was fresh but really nothing special. The foie gras on the other hand was very nicely presented and tasty. The main course’s meat was beyond tender and it was an overall well composed dish, the morel mushrooms gave it a ”springy vibe”.
Beware that if you are sitting by the window you will get a lot of curious glances from passers by. It is worth it though, since the view over Kongens Nytorv is great.
For romantic get-togethers or celebrations, this is a gem of a spot.

Jyder i hovedstaden. Vi havde besluttet at bo på hotellet, og nyde det.
Derfor valgte vi at spise aftensmad på Marchal, og det var en virkelig god oplevelse.
Selvom vi nok ikke skal bo på hotellet igen, så besøger vi gerne restauranten igen.
Vi valgte at købe en flaske champagne, startede med udvalgte snacks. Til hovedret fik vi pighvar. Det var utrolig lækker mad.

Really amazing and incredible food, the flavours of each dish was spot on. They each had personality and worked in their own right, the dishes were never boring. My favourites being the venison with an incredible sauce and the yakitori octopus with caviar, but there were never really a bad dish.
The service is probably the best in the industry, the staff was very attentive and always providing the best that they could.
Really happy to try Marchal and would love to come back at some point.

Desayunamos, cócteles y cenamos en Marchal y la experiencia fue un poco diferente.
Desayuno:
El buffet se instaló en una gran sala con áreas adyacentes para sentarse. Había muchas opciones de comida y bebida, pero los huevos revueltos y tortitas estaban fríos. Parte de la comida se colocó encima de los quemadores. Los huevos revueltos no tenían quemador debajo y las tortitas estaban en un plato sobre la mesa. Había margen de mejora con el desayuno comedor.
Cócteles:
Los cócteles de vino tinto y blanco fueron maravillosos y se sirvieron con dulces que complementaron las bebidas. Había asientos dentro y fuera disponibles para aquellos que querían una bebida.
Cena:
Todos los cursos fueron excelentes. El chef, Alexander Baert, tiene un brillante futuro por delante. Mientras se preparaba cada plato se acercó a la mesa y explicó el plato y entabló una conversación agradable. Las zanahorias con yogur ahumado eran tan creativas y cada pétalo tenía un sabor extraordinario. Cada curso que tuvimos fue excepcional.
La anfitriona, Jenny, fue encantadora. Ella saludó a cada invitado con una hermosa sonrisa. Todo el personal era realmente bien entrenado, cortés y amable.
