Restaurant Marinen in Kolding, which is beautifully located right next to the southern marina, must of course also have tested their shooting stars. Maybe this is where we will find a top-quality shooting star.
We arrived at 7:30 PM and ordered 5 minutes later. The food was served 15 minutes later, which is quite fast.
I always base my decision on what is on the menu. Do they live up to what they write and how is the quality otherwise?
First impression of the service is a mixed experience. The fried fish is fried in a deep fryer and has been overdone. The breading on the edge was hard and reminded more of pork belly than a fish fillet. I agree that they did not promise that it was fried in butter in a pan, but this can certainly be done better. The steaming fish fillet, which was under the fried one, was still warm and tasted good.
At the very bottom I found 1.5 slices of wheat bread. Nothing special but ok. For the first time, in all the shooting stars that I have tested, I experienced something new. The bread was buttered on one side and toasted on the other. I prefer to toast that side with butter.
The combination of shrimp and crayfish was quite nice. Crayfish gives a little extra flavor experience. The same can be said about the hot smoked salmon.
The dressing was supposed to be a thousand island, but it didn't taste quite like one, more like a homemade variant that is between thousand island and a shellfish dressing. It tasted really good and there should have been a little more of it. Maybe in a small bowl on the side.
Super nice that roe is used as a garnish, as it also gives a good flavor to the dish. I often come across the tasteless version made of seaweed.
I can say the same about the fresh green asparagus that you use. It seemed as if it was blanched. Good thing you don't use the white ones from a can.
The greens were fresh and in the right amount.
I come up with an overall rating of 3.5/5.
A little more love and butter frying would have pulled it up to 4/5, especially when you remember that it costs 245.

Had fish and chips. A nicely balanced dish. Delicious tartar sauce Good view of the harbor.
The only downside was the noise from a party that had to entertain a baby for the entire restaurant. A larger party that might have been better placed in one of the other adjacent rooms.
So unfortunately it drags down the atmosphere a bit.

So many compliments to the young, sweet, attentive and extremely service-minded waiters. I have never traveled much, but I simply think they surpass everyone and I hope the owners know this and give them good recommendations if they ever have to move on. We have been to the restaurant on two beautiful summer days and cold ice water is immediately served on the table, which is a great gesture. Water for the dogs. The location is unique and the restaurant is very nice and clean inside. The food is also really good.

A charming restaurant with excellent, fresh food and exceptionally friendly service and management, located directly adjacent to the Kolding Sailing Club. We had made a reservation shortly in advance, so we got our table right away, even though the terrace was full. No vegetarian dishes were available at the time of this review. Due to a last-minute staff shortage and the large number of guests, we had to wait a bit longer for our food on our first visit, which the service staff proactively addressed. The children's plate was too salty for our child, but Danes are known to love salt—so just a quick mention if that's an issue. Marinaen is a restaurant I'll visit again when I'm in the area again.

We were 3 people on a Saturday night, had booked a table, it is often necessary at that restaurant, we got a lovely table close to the window facing the harbor, great service from a young male waiter, and the restaurant was almost full. We ordered, like many others in the restaurant, Stjerneskud with everything, and there is nothing missing, here they also use crayfish tails on the menu, as well as delicious shrimp, boiled and fried plaice and of course a piece of salmon with black caviar and salad.
It is delicious, it is also a large meal, as long as it is fish, it does not fill up in the same way as beef.
It is always worth a visit.
