12/04/2025: Great atmosphere. Service is friendly and accommodating. There is always good music in the speakers and friendly people in the room. You must smoke inside as in the old days. The prices are on the high end for what I consider to be a brown pub. But the atmosphere cannot be found anywhere else 🤗
06/04/2025: Stepping into Centralhjørnet, one is instantly aware of its significance - the oldest gay bar in the world carries a certain gravitas, a living piece of LGBTQ+ history nestled in the heart of Copenhagen. The service was notably attentive, and the staff deserve high praise for their warmth and professionalism. Their friendly demeanour makes you feel welcomed, even on a first visit.
However, while the heritage is rich and the atmosphere warm in parts, there are elements that left me less than enthused. Chief among them was indoor smoking. For a venue with such legacy, allowing patrons to smoke inside was both surprising and, frankly, off-putting. It lingered in the air and dulled what might have otherwise been an enjoyable evening - sadly, it’s a dealbreaker for me and would deter future visits.
As for the music, it sat somewhere in the realm of “alright-ish”, neither offensive nor particularly memorable. It didn’t quite lift the room or energise the crowd, which was a shame given the venue’s potential.
All in all, I’m genuinely glad I made the pilgrimage to Centralhjørnet. To have stood within the walls of such a historic establishment is something I won’t forget. But while my curiosity has been satisfied, I must admit, the experience left me more contemplative than captivated. A tick off the list, but not a place I see myself returning to.
