13/06/2026: The staff provided impeccable service; I sat in a well-lit restaurant with a sea view and enjoyed my delicious food.
09/05/2026: We visited Restaurant Fauna in connection with an event at Musikkens Hus and chose the place because it was an obvious choice to eat in the same building before the concert. We chose their concert menu with starter, main course, drinks and coffee, which on paper sounded like a really good solution.
First the positives: the restaurant has really nice surroundings with a fantastic view of the water, a good atmosphere and professional service. The staff seemed well-informed about both food and wine, and it was clear that they had a handle on the ingredients. We had tuna ceviche for a starter, which was well-presented, fresh and tasted really good.
Unfortunately, the main course did not live up to expectations. We had barbecue pork, but the dish was more reminiscent of a very salty cutlet with barbecue sauce than actual barbecue. The sauce overpowered the rest of the dish, and the balance of flavours did not really work for us. The presentation was beautiful, and some elements worked well, but overall the main course was a disappointment.
We also thought that the portions were a bit small compared to the price. Although the bill ended up being around 1,000 DKK for two people, we actually left without really feeling full.
It's a bit of a shame, because the place has many qualities, and the service was good throughout. But when you compare it to the many strong restaurants that Aalborg city center otherwise offers in the same price range, we unfortunately don't think the dining experience was worth the price this evening.
We probably won't be back for the time being, but hope the restaurant continues to work on the menu, because the potential is definitely there.
