Excellent food! Excellent service! Extremely over priced! I’ve been all over the world! I’ve eaten thai food in probably 25 countries. This is bar far the most I have ever paid for Thai food! More than double the price of the most expensive Thai food I’ve ever had! Fantastic food but bring your piggy bank because it’s super expensive!

Koreans who are tired of European food, come here.. It's 100 times better than vaguely tasteless Korean food! It's a Thai restaurant that has all the spiciness and heat we want, and the portions are generous!

Amazing spicy thai food. A bit pricy compared to other thai restaurants in Copenhagen, but the food is amazing.

Dine in | Dinner | Beside Copenhagen Central Station
💰 kr 150–300 per person
As someone with millions of views on Google Maps, I always look for places that don’t just serve great food — they create memorable experiences. Poon Chai, located just beside Copenhagen Central Station, is one of those places. This Thai restaurant doesn’t just offer a meal — it transports you.
⸻
🌟 Ambience
The moment you step inside, you’re immersed in a world that feels genuinely Thai. The décor is rich with golden finishes, statues of Thai deities, traditional artwork, and warm lighting that creates a calming, almost spiritual atmosphere. The space feels thoughtfully designed — like a tribute to Thai culture — and gives you the sense that every detail was chosen with care. It’s both elegant and welcoming, and easily one of the most beautiful Thai interiors I’ve seen in Denmark.
⸻
🙌 Service
The staff were fantastic — warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. They were helpful with recommendations and created a calm, relaxed environment throughout our visit. It’s clear the people here take pride in their service and are genuinely passionate about what they do.

📜 Menu
One of the highlights here is the incredible variety — with over 100 items on the menu, there’s something for everyone. From familiar Thai street food to more unique regional dishes, the menu is a dream for anyone who loves Thai cuisine. Whether you’re vegetarian, a seafood lover, or craving bold meat dishes, this menu offers depth, diversity, and inspiration to come back again and again.
⸻
🍽 What We Ordered
To begin, we had:
• Thai Iced Tea – Served ice-cold, sweet and creamy, with that classic spiced flavor that makes it such a perfect start. Refreshing and delicious.
• Satay Chicken – Tender and flavorful, served with a rich and silky peanut sauce. It wasn’t grilled, but had a lovely texture and taste that made it a great comfort starter.
• Prawn Chips – Light, crunchy, and served fresh. A classic Thai snack that went really well with the tea.
For mains:
• Tofu Soup – Subtle, clear broth with delicate herbal notes. Light but satisfying — especially good if you want something clean and warming.
• Crispy Chilli Pork – Easily the highlight. Crispy, bold, spicy, and full of flavor. Every bite delivered on texture and taste. A must-try dish if you like a bit of heat.
⸻
✅ Final Verdict
Poon Chai is a must-visit — not only for its food, but for the atmosphere and the sheer care put into every aspect of the experience. Whether you’re just visiting Copenhagen or a local looking for authentic Thai cuisine, this spot offers great value, beautiful surroundings, and dishes that hit the mark.
I’ll absolutely be returning to explore more of the massive menu.
