A very good traditional restaurant with a friendly welcome. One of the waiters is French and shares his experience. Excellent traditional dishes; a must-try if you're in Copenhagen.

For our last night in Copenhagen we decided to dine somewhere with some more traditional Danish cuisine. After some deliberation we picked Restaurant Puk.
Service:
My wife and I called in advance to let them know we would be bringing our luggage with us on our way to the airport. They reassured us this was ok. On arrival we were greeted, we dropped our bags and went to the restroom. I went back to the reception area where a waiter tried to seat me with a stranger. We laughed it off. After my wife and I were seated (together this time 😄) we were given our menus and made our drink and food choice. The waiter was very knowledgeable about wines, was happy to answer any of our questions and made recommendations. At this point it was going well. I ordered the tartare and the house signature Steak au Poivre. My wife ordered the Langoustine and prawn bisque and the Mussels for her main.
Food:
After eating at Popl the day before, where I was lucky enough to try their Deer tartare, when the Beef tartare was served it already had some tough competition. The beef was inconsistently diced, massively under-seasoned and generally underwhelming. The bread that was served with it was dense and thick cut, making the balance of the dish far too bread heavy.
My wife really enjoyed her bisque, but it was a rather disappointing show, with not a single Langoustine in the bowl. It left us wondering where the Langoustine's were, assuming only the shells were used to make the broth.
Moving onto mains, my steak was cooked to temperature, it was a decent size and the sides were ample. However, this dish now had the exact opposite issue of my starter. It was criminally over-seasoned, to the point where the salt levels actually burnt my gums. It was a struggle to finish the dish. This is where I think it's worth mentioning the attention to detail on drink service. We were sat at the table directly next to the bar. When we first arrived, my wife had been served red wine, but offered no water and I was served a lemonade (because I was driving). At this point in the meal, both of us had long finished our drinks and the waiters (of which there were many - considering the size of the restaurant), didn't make eye contact or realise we had run dry. I barely managed to eat my steak and the lack of water made it a real struggle.
Meanwhile my wife had been served a literal mountain of Mussels (one of her favourite dishes). I can't say they weren't generous, I'll give them that. It's such a shame she could only eat about half of them, there was a lot of wastage.
Atmosphere:
The restaurant is in a very cosy very old building with exposed beams and quite a relaxed vibe. There's some "pompousness" to the general decor, but some flashes of character with a graffiti'd portrait of the Kings fatheron the wall (thanks to our original waiter for giving us context).
Summary:
All in all, there were inconsistencies and mishaps that affected both front and back of house. The food was inconsistently seasoned and portions were wildly generous, or underwhelmingly under-generous. The service was in small windows really excellent and in others neglectful. It's not the worst experience I've had in a restaurant but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially given the bill was on the higher side.
You might say, this experience left me feeling a little "salty".

I was so lucky to have the most exceptionally kind servers. They recommended an amazing meal, they were kind and hospitable to the end. The food was absolute stunning. The price is totally justified, do not skip the Aquavita. It ends the meal perfectly. Thank you so much to the staff and also the lovely other dinners who chatted with me as I was solo. An absolutely delightful experience.

We have chosen this restaurant as we wanted to experience Danish cuisine. Although they consider this place as french-danish restaurant we managed to pick dishes that reflects Danish cuisine. As starters we asked for a shrimp bisque and smoked salmon with poached egg and spinach over a slice of bread. Both of them very delicious and beautifully served. As main courses we picked a seafood platter(cod fish) and meat( sirloin?). Fish was very good cooked and tasteful. However, when it comes to meat, although it was quite tasteful, probably nerves/veins of the meat was not properly cleaned, this made it hard to chew some parts of it. We had beer as drink which was produced by a local, respectively new brewery and its taste was good.
