Fantastic experience in the king suite. Beautiful, beautiful surroundings both outside and inside. Really good food in the right quantities. Reasonable drink prices. Good and extensive breakfast buffet. Attentive, friendly and welcoming service all the way around. The fact that the water was not quite hot, the curtains quite difficult to close and some guests thought they should make noise until 2 in the morning is not enough to ruin the experience.

The atmosphere of an old castle is always a bit magical. Hvedholm is no exception. Magnificent halls and a tower that you definitely have to experience. Don't expect a "Disney castle" where everything looks new and polished, but instead enjoy the authentic old. The service was friendly and welcoming, mainly consisting of young people, where it was clear that there were several new ones. But if you show a little patience, you will have a very pleasant experience. We got a nice room with a view of the lake. The food was a tasty multi-course menu for the evening, and the breakfast buffet was quite nice. The selection is not as large as in larger hotels, but we didn't feel we were missing anything.

Lovely stay and beautiful castle. It could use a little love here and there though. Especially in the bathrooms. The bed is lovely to sleep in and the view was absolutely perfect. The TV in both of our rooms were both broken, so the colours kept disappearing on and off. Wifi didn't work in our rooms, but the breakfast was super good.

Beautiful setting. Room was nice and clean. No issues. Was a fun option while visiting Egeskov.

We liked the park with its old and sometimes rare trees the most.

Review of Hvedholm Castle – Beautiful setting, but uneven stay Hvedholm Castle is undoubtedly an impressive building – both outside and inside. The castle oozes historical charm with high ceilings, beautiful details and a certain calmness about it, which really invites contemplation and romance. The surroundings are also idyllic, and you can hardly help but be captivated upon arrival. But unfortunately the stay was a bit of a mixed experience. The castle seems a bit overcrowded in several places – almost as if they have tried to squeeze a little too much furniture, decorations and elements into the rooms. It takes away some of the magnificent feeling that the place could otherwise have given. You miss the air and peace to just enjoy the place. The internet is practically useless, which can be frustrating – especially when the TV in the room depends on it. The small box that was supposed to provide access to streaming services and the ability to cast from your own phone, unfortunately did not work properly. This made the evenings in the room a little more sedentary than we had hoped. Another practical problem: if you stay on the upper floors, you hardly get any cold water in the taps. I had to go all the way down to the bathroom by the reception – by the restaurant – just to get cold water. It honestly didn’t seem well thought out. There is also no air conditioning in the rooms, and for those of us who get hot at night, this is a definite disadvantage. Even though the windows were wide open, I woke up drenched in sweat at 5 am – with or without a duvet – and that made the nights heavy. The breakfast was quite nice, and the dinner was served with good timing and tasty dishes. The staff is friendly enough, but a little reserved. The young man at the reception spoke so softly that both we and the couple before us had difficulty hearing what he was saying – and in general we missed a little more smiles and warmth in the service. The castle is in beautiful surroundings, but there are not really any nearby routes or paths for a good walk. The castle garden is charming, but quite small and limited if you want to stretch your legs a little further. All in all: Hvedholm Castle has potential and lots of atmosphere, but there are some practicalities and lack of comfort that drag down the experience – especially if you expect a relaxing stay without unnecessary challenges.

If you are a traitor, I think it is a must to visit Hvedholm Castle.
