Restaurant Over Aaen Kolding

The fish fillet was not very good, it was thin and covered in sauce. But their fish and chips were good.

Nothing much to write home about. But nice staff.

The service was clearly preoccupied with something else, something personal... No offer of a menu or inquiry about whether we needed anything else - a shame. Two Aperol Spritzes: one with little alcohol and lots of fizz, the other the complete opposite 🥂 🤔 Not a huge problem, but annoying. I used to work in the service industry, and you have to constantly keep an eye on people's tables and guests to see if anyone might want or need anything else...

Maybe I had too high expectations going to this restaurant as there was many good reviews and the location by the river felt like a perfect relaxed dinner stop on a sunny evening, but in my case, even if the service was friendly and polite, unfortunately the pasta dish with beef and mushrooms didn't win my heart as the penne pasta was totally overcooked and I barely found any mushrooms in the dish. Also I felt that there could be much more done about the interiors, patio furniture and cutlery to be more welcoming and lift the overall experience to another level to really feel the famous Danish "hygge".

Dejligt sted og god service, men tapas menuen var lidt ordinær, dog alligevel blandt byens bedre.

We came here with a walker and got good service. Lovely setting and fantastic food.

Friendly service, good food, and reasonable prices. The only criticism, which is really subjective: The music was too "youthful" and loud for my taste, but luckily we were able to sit outside in nice weather, without the music. Apart from the music, everything else was top notch. We would happily visit the restaurant again.

I had booked a table for 2 people on Sunday, 10-5-2026, Mother's Day. The food was good and the staff was nice and welcoming, but that's where the praise ends, a lot of people in a small place we sat like herring in a barrel, long queue up to the buffet table, poor acoustics, the oven in the whole place played music at a medium volume so you couldn't carry on a conversation across the table. All in all, a bad experience.

I would love to give more, but their Sunday brunch is a bit of a disappointment. 35 minutes after the restaurant opened, the buffet was almost empty. Two young people didn't feel like refilling or clearing the tables. It must be said, however, that the food that was there tasted great. There were just too many empty plates. It was almost embarrassing.

Had a good meal, no frills, just a good meal. Friendly crew and a table with a view of the water.
