Restaurant Smör København

Couldn't have had a better experience! Our service was exceptional and so were the tartlets. All the food served in the restaurant looked extremely delicious and we are already looking forward to our next visit. A special thank you to our attentive waiter he deserves something extra for his skills and eye for detail. A surprisingly good experience. We did not expect the extra we got on all parameters of our visit.

I reserved a table here for lunch as knew we’d be visiting the museum and thought it would make a nice lunch spot. I was conscious the reviews weren’t great but Copenhagen is known for good restaurants so thought I’d give it a try. From arriving to leaving you could tell the team were struggling to keep up with the amount of people coming through. We ordered a smorrebrod each (unfortunately they’d already run out of one or didn’t have it which was a shame with a very small menu) and they were quick to be served, nice portion size and tasty. I noticed the tables around us get served the wrong food and then have to wait awhile for the right food. We were also placed near the windows but also near the station the team uses to prepare the new tables so there was always someone very close behind me. There was also a charge for still water (something I don’t understand in Copenhagen). The only 4 is for the food but I wouldn’t come back or recommend as there are much better options out there.

My lunch was so good at Smör, housed on the first floor of the National Museum, that I returned for lunch four days in a row. It is centrally located near the city hall, the War Museum, and Christiansborg Palace among other attractions. While Smör specializes in open faced sandwiches, they also have other items, including a house made spicy sausage. What sets Smör apart is the wonderful balance of flavors and textures in each dish—the spicy sausage is accompanied by a tangy house made relish and creamy potato salad and topped with popped amaranth. Their tomato open faced sandwich (the best I have ever had) is topped with crunchy tapioca chips. The desserts are not to be missed—their “apple cake” is a deconstructed version with apples which have such concentrated flavor that can only come from hours of cooking. Smör also has a wide menu of local beers, mead, and schnapps. Chef Martin and his team really know what they are doing. I can’t wait to return to Smör and the wonderful National Museum.

The food here was unexpectedly great. If you are looking to complement your museum visit with some traditional Danish food this is an easy win. Have some beer and snaps and then hit the rest of museum. Service we wonderful too especially considering they were quite busy

The smørrebrød was good, but completely overpriced at around 140 crowns. It costs a lot less in a restaurant on Rathausplatz. And if you want to share the portion, you pay a 45 crown “penalty” for an empty plate. We've really never experienced that before. But the service was mostly friendly and accommodating.
