I visited San Giovanni's trattoria and it was second to none and a fantastic experience. I specifically think that the pasta was cooked exactly as it should be, namely quite aldente and it was clear that they have it under control in the kitchen. The service is great, the surroundings create a cozy atmosphere - and not least the website is both well designed and comprehensive. Can be highly recommended.

I had been hearing rumors about San Giovanni for a long time] and in the evening a few days ago I finally decided to find out if the hype was justified. And let me just put it this way: It was to that extent! From the moment I walked in the door, I felt like I was in a small, authentic trattoria in the heart of Italy. The warm lighting, the pleasant scent of fresh herbs and the lively hum of voices created an atmosphere that was both inviting and relaxing. I was greeted by smiling and professional staff who immediately showed me to my table. The wine menu was impressive, and after a short chat with the sommelier, the choice fell on a full-bodied Chianti Classico, which proved to be the perfect match for the evening's menu. For starters I chose Bruschetta and it was great! As a main course, I ordered Saltimbocca, which was made from scratch and had a lovely combination of side dishes. To round off the evening, I couldn't resist the temptation to try their tiramisu. It was light and airy, with a perfect balance between coffee and mascarpone. Throughout the evening the service was impeccable. Our waiter was both attentive and discreet, and he took the time to tell us a little about the dishes and the wines of the day. It was clear that he was passionate about his work and wanted to give us the best possible experience. San Giovanni is more than just a restaurant; it is a destination. It is a place where you can enjoy good food, good wine and good company. If you are looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Aalborg, this is the place to visit. I highly recommend San Giovanni to anyone who loves good Italian food. From the friendly service to the delicious food and the cozy atmosphere, everything about the visit was top notch. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more of their dishes.

Best restaurant in town, highly recommended whether you want takeaway, fine dining in La Cantina or lunch or dinner in the Trattoria.

Lovely food and cozy atmosphere

Vores besøg på San Giovanni levede desværre ikke op til de forventninger, vi havde til en særlig aften. Maden var dog på mange måder en fornøjelse: Hovedretten med otte stykker perfekt tilberedt lammekrone var saftig og smagfuld, mens pizzaen med fire forskellige slags ost havde en dejlig balance af smagsnuancer, der smeltede sammen på den helt rigtige måde. Også desserterne – is med chokoladekage og tiramisu – var i topklasse og afsluttede måltidet på en sød og vellykket note. Desværre trak servicen oplevelsen ned. Til vores halve flaske Barolo, der i øvrigt var i den dyrere ende, blev der ikke automatisk tilbudt vand – en detalje, der ellers burde være standard på en restaurant af denne kaliber. Vi måtte endda selv rykke for vores drikkevarer, som først blev serveret efter maden, hvilket gav en følelse af at være overset. Restauranten var travl, og det virkede tydeligt, at enkelte gæster – os selv inklusive – blev glemt i mængden. San Giovanni har uden tvivl et køkken, der kan levere mad på højt niveau, men når servicen halter, falder den samlede oplevelse igennem. Vi forlod stedet med en følelse af, at den gode mad ikke helt kunne opveje den skuffende service. Det er synd, for San Giovanni kunne have været en mindeværdig oplevelse, men endte desværre som blot endnu et sted med god mad, men manglende opmærksomhed til gæsterne.

The absolute best pizza I've had in a long time. Delicious base and really tasty. Delicious tiramisu. It's also cozy 👍🏼
