We had dinner near my daughter's house at an Italian restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. In fact, we loved the lamb chops, cooked to perfection and truly delicious. I highly recommend them. The pizza was also excellent, thin, just the way we like it. Perhaps a little too much buffalo mozzarella. The prices are a bit high, but the ingredients are excellent.

Really good and authentic restaurant experience! The starter was fantastic – a fresh salad served with good bread and really good olive oil. The main course, saltimbocca, was simply excellent, and the tiramisu tasted fantastic. Also a delicious Ripasso and really good, personal service. You felt really welcome. Highly recommended! 🇮🇹🍷

*Update 2026 ***Disappointing reunion with San Giovanni*** We chose San Giovanni because my in-laws were visiting and wanted Italian. We have eaten here several times before, but most recently about five years ago, and our previous experiences have been really good. That's why we had actually recommended the place warmly in advance and were all looking forward to good, Italian food made from scratch. Unfortunately, this experience was somewhat more mediocre. We ended up paying around 550 kr. per person on average, even with children at the table, and at that price I simply think you can expect more. We had, among other things, beef tenderloin and lamb loin from the summer menu, tagliatelle with shrimp and a calzone. First the positives: The lamb loin was really good. Beautifully served, a good portion and perfectly cooked. It was right in the eye and was clearly the best dish of the evening. The tagliatelle was also a good, firm pasta, but the sauce really lacked acidity and also both salt and flavor. Fortunately, parmesan was served on the side, which saved the dish a bit. There were only four shrimp in the portion, and they were very rubbery, either because they were too hot or because they had been frozen. All in all, an okay dish, but certainly not a showy one. The biggest disappointment was the beef tenderloin. Everyone at the table ordered medium rare, but all the steaks came closer to medium well done. We chose to eat them anyway, as the meat was still tender, and we don't like unnecessary food waste. (It should be added that both the red wine sauce and the side dishes were excellent.) But of course it's not satisfactory when the preparation is so far from what was ordered. For dessert, we all had the summer dessert with cannoli, mascarpone, strawberries, chocolate and ice cream. It was again mediocre. The mascarpone cream was greyish brown and a bit strangely grainy, and the "crispy" cannoli was so hard that even a steak knife had difficulty getting through it, after chopping it in vain we almost had to pick it up with our hands and bite it off, which was rude and a bit inappropriate. The waiter never came to inquire about our experience (I suspect the waiter was aware that the food was not quite top notch). The house wine tasted quite good, but 310 kr. for a wine that costs around 65 kr. in retail, I think is a bit high – especially when it is the cheapest wine in the house, and there is no option to order wine by the glass. The last thing that brought the experience down was the service. When the waiter finally cleared away, we quietly told him that the steaks were overcooked, while praising the lamb loin. The reaction to the criticism was almost just a "no", after which the plates were taken and the waiter left. We did not expect a discount or compensation, but a simple "I'm sorry, I'll pass it on to the kitchen" would have been appropriate. Instead, we felt a little let down, and that unfortunately affected the last part of the evening. Overall, there was nothing that was decidedly bad, and the lamb loin was really good. But there was simply too much mediocrity. It was especially unfortunate because we had recommended San Giovanni to my in-laws based on our previous good experiences. We therefore did not leave angry - just disappointed. Around 550 kr. per person is, in my opinion, too expensive for mediocrity. I hope we just had a bad night, because unfortunately it was not the San Giovanni we remembered. (Review from 5 years ago below) Super atmosphere that really manages to capture the Italian hookah style, everything from the decor to the fantastic checkered tablecloth and olive oil that adorns your table when you first sit down. The staff is very competent and friendly. The food is exceptional we ordered antipasto followed by a fresh welcome drink, then a freshly caught long well-accompanied by well-prepared accessories of your choice. A lovely light and tasty dessert ended the evening, all washed down with really good grapes. So all in all, only 5 stars can be given. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny. It's recommended to book a table, but it's not that strange. Super super.

Great place if you want Italian food in Aalborg

The pasta was al dente and the sauce was rich. Tried a homemade lasagna which was heavenly.
