If you are looking for authentic African food, made with love, tradition and respect for the original recipes, then you don't have to look any further. Sasaa at Blågårds Plads is without a doubt one of the most authentic African restaurants I have visited in Denmark. The first thing you notice is the warm atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful African art, warm colors and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel welcome from the first moment. It doesn't feel like an ordinary restaurant visit – it feels like being invited home to an African dinner table. 🌍❤️ Behind the food are chefs Amadou and Ismail, both of whom come from Guinea-Bissau. Their passion and experience can be tasted in every dish. You can clearly feel that they cook with pride and that they want to present Africa's rich food culture in the best possible way. The great thing about Sasaa is that the menu takes you on a culinary journey through several African countries. Here you will find dishes inspired by, among others, Somalia 🇸🇴, Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇳, Ghana 🇬🇭, Nigeria 🇳🇬, Kenya 🇰🇪, Tanzania 🇹🇿, Uganda 🇺🇬, Burundi 🇧🇮, Mozambique 🇲🇿 and several other African cuisines. Their Somali dishes in particular are incredibly authentic and filled with the characteristic spices and flavor nuances that make Somali cuisine completely unique. 🍽️ What we ordered: 🥪 2 Beef Sambos Fantastically crispy and golden on the outside with a juicy, spicy beef filling. A perfect balance between crispiness and fullness – they disappeared far too quickly. 🥩 Bariis Iyo Hilib 🇸🇴 A textbook example of how to make this classic Somali dish. The rice was aromatic and fluffy with warm spices like cardamom, cinnamon and cloves, while the beef was incredibly tender and tasted like it had been simmering for hours. A dish full of depth, warmth and comfort. 🍅 Jollof Rice 🇬🇭🇳🇬 Some of the best Jollof Rice I have ever tasted. Perfectly cooked rice with an intense tomato base, well-balanced spices and lots of flavour. A dish that shows exactly why Jollof is so loved across West Africa. 🍗 Peri Peri Chicken 🇲🇿 Incredibly juicy and perfectly grilled. The marinade had lots of character with a wonderful combination of chilli, citrus and spices, which gave heat without overpowering the natural flavour of the chicken. 🥤 Hibiscus Fresh, natural and refreshing with a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity – it went wonderfully with the spicy dishes. 🥤 Stony Yellow A classic African soda with a lovely ginger flavor that really complemented the food. What really impresses is the details. The homemade sauces, the fresh ingredients, the beautiful dishes and the clear respect for the different food traditions. Nothing seems rushed – everything is prepared with care. The service also deserves high praise. The staff was smiling, welcoming and very helpful. You feel genuinely welcome, and they are happy to share their knowledge about the dishes and the different African food cultures. ⭐ Food: 10/10 ⭐ Authenticity: 10/10 ⭐ Atmosphere: 10/10 ⭐ Service: 10/10 ⭐ Prices: 10/10 Sasaa is much more than a restaurant – it is a culinary journey through Africa. They got fufu w groundnut sauce only on tuesdays n wednesdays, its rlly fye n good value

Came during a busy time so it took a while before I was seated. Seems like not enough staff was around so it took a while to clear tables. That being said the people who served me were very polite and left me the hell alone to eat my food which was great. My personal pet peeve is when waiters are constantly checking on you when you eat. I understand it's part of giving good service which is fine, but I prefer being left alone so this was great. Food wise I got that Somali dish with banana on the side that I saw on TikTok. Forgot the name but it's the first dish on their Mains list. OH MY GOD. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. IT WAS LEGIT THE BEST THING I ATE IN COPENHAGEN. Sorry for the caps, but I don't know how else to emphasise how good it was. You'd think the banana was a strange choice but no, - IT TRULY MAKES THE MEAL. I was so sad when the meal was over.

I was there Friday evening with my friends, we ordered several food and it was really good. I really like they have different dishes from Africa and represent them very authentic ✨ They played also very nice music and cool art.
