Lovely authentic Danish atmosphere with good Danish dishes. Polite service by real "waiters", in white shirts and black trousers. A truly authentic time capsule.

Good Danish food at a high price. (Tivoli level)

I wanted to eat at Tivoli Gardens, and I wanted to try one of the Danish open-faced sandwiches. After researching, it seemed this place had gluten free bread so I headed there. My pickled herring sandwich on gluten free bread was excellent. The waiter even explained to me what to do with the tiny spoon of white stuff (lard, you're supposed to spread it on the warm bread). I also had wine and a bottle of water. Of course the prices are inflated because if the location but I thought it was worth it. The restaurant doesn't have a great view, but I liked the old-time vibe. It seems a good idea to come around 4:30 or 5 pm; I was seated immediately. At 5:30 they started to tell people they could only stay until 6 pm because at that time they start to serve dinner only.

Good experience and food and service

Here you get the best smørrebrød or Søcafeen's platter. Friendly service and a lovely area with a view of Tivoli Lake.

We were 5 adults who had been here before, the food was nice, but the youngest waiter, about 40 years old, seemed unprepared and "short-tempered", the other waiters were in a good mood. We think the waiters are constantly circling the tables so you have to walk quickly. Immediately the glass was empty, whoops: Do you want a new glass of water? Nice with attentive waiters, but it feels annoying that they almost "stand right" at the tables.

There are no complaints about the food, it is delicious and home-made, but the staff behaves as if they did us a favor and served us. When we asked to remove the trash from the table, the waitress was so indignant that we wanted to get up and leave at that moment. In the end, we saw a bunch of free tables on the other side of the restaurant, but they didn’t even offer them to us and sat us at the same table with strangers.
