Great authentic small Japanese restaurant. Food is fresh and super tasty!

I am Japanese and I highly recommend this place because you can definitely eat real Japanese sushi. It was amazing. I never thought I would be able to eat such an authentic Japanese sushi like those in Denmark. I was so happy to have sushi not only tuna, salmon and California rolls, but scallops, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, bonito and yellowtail were all excellent. And the chef's service is also excellent, he is very friendly and nice. Definitely the best Japanese sushi in Copenhagen! This is a restaurant where you can eat real Japanese sushi! I was impressed. The special menu of the day was the best, and the scallops, yellowtail, bonito, and salmon roe were delicious. I never thought I could eat something like this in Denmark. I ended up ordering too much and was more than full. The general is also a very nice person. I can't go to any other sushi restaurant in Copenhagen!

I was extremely excited to try this restaurant given the high ratings - however, I felt that the ratings are not accurate. Firstly, it is housed in a typical small takeaway restaurant - three tables with a max occupancy of 8pax. Basic ambience so nothing special. Japanese owners and servers - nothing to shout about the service but nothing to complain either. The food - well, it was not as great as what the the others reviewers have commented. The only saving point was the sashimi / sashimi nigiri(s). It was very good and fresh with thick cuts of sashimi. The others, not so much. We ordered the XL set and tempura maki to share. The tempura maki was unfortunately utterly disappointing - it was cold, tasteless and soggy. It should have not been served if that was the quality they were offering. The other maki(s) in the set was of subpar quality as well. The only thing worth having is the sashimi and sashimi nigiri. It is quite a pity because the restaurant has so much potential but the supporting side dishes were a disappointment.

I don't frequently write reviews but had to make an exception for the truly stellar meal I had at Selfish Sushi a few weeks ago. Was visiting Copenhagen for the first time, and after being turned away from my intended Saturday lunchtime location, turned out to be a major blessing in disguise as it led me to unexpectedly trying out Selfish Sushi. Very welcoming staff and cozy dining area. Ordered a variety of rolls and you can instantly tell that all of the fish are incredibly fresh. Specifically the tuna was some of the best that I have ever had! Certainly will be near the top of my list for any and every time I visit Copenhagen in the future!

The tuna was insanely good. We enjoyed the family and authentic atmosphere and above all the silence that is missing in many places. We will definitely be back.

Selfish is our home away from home. A family-owned restaurant, the chef/owner and staff are always warm and inviting. This is hands down the most authentic sushi and sake haven in Copenhagen, with daily offerings of hard-to-find specials like fatty tuna, sea urchin, mackerel, snow crab and bonito. The sake selection is unlike any other, with new sake being introduced regularly from Japan. I truly enjoy the sake recommendations from the chef and always look forward to returning! Virkelig lækker sushi! Og fin mængde til 2 til aftensmad ved køb af XX Large til 410 kr. Så jeg kommer sten sikkert igen :-) :-)
