31/12/2024: An oasis inside the Royal Gardens, and a respite to a dreary, grey winter day. The large scale wall paper with botanical motifs on the well lit dining room adds greenhouse overtones that are pleasing and festive. The holiday touches on the main center table were well done. I also like the inner rooms with those large Audubon-like prints, and the complimentary textiles on the sofas. We had the chicken salad, the confit the canard, a curry ferring and the ubiquitous plaice with shrimp, all satisfying to our hearty appetites. Event though the service was professional and we were the last table to be served, the preparation of these dishes took an unusual long time. Though we enjoyed the food and presentation, the lethargic pace in their arrival put a damper on the experience. With sparkling water and sodas, the cost for lunch was around $38.00 per person, which was a welcome relief compared to other meals in Copenhagen. We would like to go back in the Spring when the surrounding gardens will be at their best.
