Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, Restaurant Maison offers a delightful escape into the world of classic French cuisine. My colleagues and I had the pleasure of dining there last night, and it was an evening marked by exquisite flavors, attentive service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The Menu
- White Asparagus & Sauce Mousseline:
Our culinary journey began with a seasonal delight—tender white asparagus paired with a rich and velvety sauce mousseline. The dish was a perfect embodiment of simplicity and elegance, showcasing the chef's mastery of traditional French techniques. Complemented by the 2021 Riesling Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr from Domaine Goepp, the pairing was a symphony of freshness and subtlety, enhancing the asparagus's delicate flavors.
- Chicken Fricassée:
For the main course, we indulged in a Chicken Fricassée, featuring confited chicken and a medley of vegetables, all enveloped in a luscious sauce moutarde. The dish was hearty and comforting, with each element cooked to perfection. The 2022 Sancerre Rouge Pinot Noir from Paul Prieur & Fils was an inspired choice, offering a light, fruity contrast that beautifully balanced the richness of the fricassée.
- Baba au Rhum:
Our meal concluded with the classic Baba au Rhum, accompanied by rhubarb compote and crème chantilly. This dessert was a delightful end to our evening, with the tangy rhubarb and airy chantilly providing a refreshing counterpoint to the rum-soaked baba.
