Banjo's Odense

I am a frequent user of Banjos. Mostly because it is now the only place that makes Danish food as take away and that it can be combined with classic grilled food. A decade ago it WAS really delicious food. Lovely original fries, good homemade dishes and at a normal price. Four to five years ago they OVERSALTED their simmered dishes 50/50 of the time and it was inedible or there was no particular taste. Over the years the dishes have become smaller, more expensive and of poor quality. And it is SO annoying! Today the dish of the day costs 100!!!! kroner. Five years ago 75 kroner. They no longer fill the entire take away box and when they do it is primarily with sauce and sour cream.. not meat and potatoes. One day I came with my children. We ordered 2 x sausages with bread and a burger menu. I went up and asked if I could have an extra ‘splash’ of ketchup (had gotten a smaller dollop of french fries sauce). I had to PAY for that extra ‘splash’?! What? I buy a star-studded menu and can’t get a bit of ketchup. In the past, dipping was free. Back then, the food was also much, much cheaper. I’ve always come there and still come there. Maybe more out of habit than pleasure, because I often get annoyed and disappointed.

Very disappointed with the steak sandwich. It was very dry, missing ketchup and remoulade. Was served on a plate that didn't look clean. Too expensive.

A pleasant place, with chairs inside and on the terrace, and grass all around where you can also sit if you like. It has parking. The service was quick and the kebab burger I had was tasty.

The food is delicious, but I think it has become VERY EXPENSIVE to buy food there.

Lovely place and fantastically good food!

The reason for this review is a surprise. The wife got a portion of fries, and I got the dish of the day. (Rib steak with gravy and potatoes). We chose to eat in the restaurant. The wife's fries came in a paper bag, placed on a plate. Which meant that only the fries on top had spices on them. Why not put the portion on the plate and then add spices??? The fries here really need help. If they don't get spices on them, they are really boring. Since the review is about both the way the fries are served, and the experience with the fries, the stars are given for that. The dish of the day was very positive...and tasty.

Funen's best Danish grill bar. Here you can get REALLY good old-fashioned Danish grill food. Can especially recommend anything with their rib roast. However, it is very tightly packed and not much space.
