We ended up there by chance while visiting Sønderburg and had a really fun time. Nice regulars who invited us to play with them, friendly staff, great selection of drinks and a seriously huge collection of games to try. Big recommendation!

Love board game cafes and this one did not disappoint. Lots of good games that are cheap to play. Really good place to come with friends and with people who know how to play, as the hosts seemed hectic and busy. But don't be put off - I know other players will help you if you need a game to play. There is a good selection of craft beers and a large selection of drinks such as non-alcoholic beers, cider, a lager and classic etc. We bought chips so can't say much about the food. Seems to have a lot of theme nights such as music quizzes, etc. Suggestions for the hosts: Always remember to ask if you want to try a new game (help finding a game) Move the drinks cabinet so you don't feel like you're in the way of people when looking at the selection.

27/06/2025: Had high expectations based on previous visits. Service is lacking in training/knowledge. Food experience was below average. If you just want something to eat, Karikat is a mediocre restaurant. The restaurant is not recommended.

01/09/2025: Very tasty burgers. Fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere. Very good service. We sat outside and ordered at the counter. Food and drinks were brought to our seats. The menu is also available in German. We'd be happy to come back.
27/08/2025: We took a trip to Sonderburg and decided to have lunch at Skaal. Because the notice at our table—we were sitting outside—said we should order at the bar, we first got a menu inside. It was available in German and Danish. We then ordered at the bar in English. The drinks and food were brought to our table and arrived quickly. The chicken and chips (chicken with fries) was very tasty. The onions on the meatloaf were a bit overcooked, but otherwise it was very good. The service staff was very friendly. Paying with a German debit card was easy. Tipping wasn't possible with card payments, but they were happy to accept euros. At the next table, a Danish couple had ordered a beer tasting with 10 different beers. It looked interesting. We can recommend Skaal.
