This establishment advertises itself as the oldest Spanish restaurant in Copenhagen, with a 50-year history. It has a charming interior with Spanish-style frescoes on the walls and rustic wooden tables. The staff is very pleasant and welcoming. They have a large selection of tapas. All the tapas are very large and filling, so be careful not to overeat. Four or five tapas for two is enough for a filling lunch or dinner. We ordered four types of tapas and two main courses – beef and lamb ribs. The lamb was delicious, while the beef was ordinary and a bit bland. The main courses also came with a generous amount of side dishes. The wine the waitress recommended was quite good. Overall, everything was very good, but I would recommend downsizing the portions, especially the tapas. It would be more profitable for the establishment and healthier for the customers.

We ate really well here! Authentic Spanish food and a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend the traditional seafood paella,absolutely delicious and definitely worth trying!

There is nothing quite like a Copenhagen summer day with a bright blue sky, and my recent visit to El Mesón captured that feeling perfectly. If you are looking for a spot that blends the vibrant atmosphere of a Spanish taberna with the quintessential charm of a Danish summer, this is exactly where you need to be. ​Sitting outside under the clear blue sky, it felt like a little holiday in the middle of the city. The outdoor seating provided the perfect vantage point to enjoy the weather while soaking in the lively energy of the street. ​The food was, without question, the highlight of the afternoon. We ordered a selection of tapas, and every dish was packed with authentic flavor. It is rare to find a place that maintains such high quality across a broad menu, but the kitchen here clearly knows its craft. From the perfectly prepared seafood to the rich, savory meat dishes, everything was fresh and served with care.

Fantastic Spanish restaurant, we had the Tapas menu, it tasted like angels singing, Scandinavia's oldest Spanish restaurant. You won't regret eating here😀
