Gjesing Bistro Esbjerg

We were a family of 4 and got a snack basket, 2 x steak bearnaise, 1 beef/bacon burger, fish fillet with fries and desserts. The service was friendly. Got a basket of bread and pesto before the main courses, which was nice. It's not like "the old days" but the food was okay. The steaks were a bit small, but well-cooked. The garnish was fried root vegetables and microgreens, which is also more delicious than a peeled tomato and boiled vegetable. The burger was big and good. The fish fillets were unfortunately mushy, and had been left for too long. The bearnaise sauce did not live up to expectations - we don't think it tasted that much of bearnaise and was too thin, but that's a matter of taste. We sat so close to them at the table next to us that you could hear each other's conversation. Random and sloppy deco on the walls, which doesn't really fit together and contributes to a cozy atmosphere. All in all okay/mediocre - but for the price you can find several places in Esbjerg with the same menu and better quality. If they are going to differentiate themselves from the competition, they should probably stick to the old concept of beuf tournedos/English steak with bearnaise that sticks to the fork, grandma greens xl and salad with dressing.

We decided to give Gjesing Bistro another chance, even though our first visit was a disappointment. We had heard from several people that they had gotten the kitchen under control and that the quality of the food had increased significantly🤨 and we have to say that it was true. The food was really tasty, and you could clearly feel that the quality has been improved. The service was also friendly, and the whole experience was much better than last time.🙌 The Bearnaise is certainly not the same as in the “old days” 😐 but honestly we actually think that the new one tastes even better. It all just came together better. 🤩 It's great to see a restaurant that has listened to the criticism and tried and turned it all around. Unfortunately not the greatest culinary experience, got the Herregårdsbøf which strangely enough consisted of 2 pieces of minced beef of 100g. They were fried too much so the frying crust tasted a little burnt. My impression is that very little of the food is made from scratch. The decor in the restaurant looked a little unfinished. The service was fine and the price was also reasonable if the food had been better. If they raise the level a little we will gladly come again.

When we entered, two tables were occupied, and no food on the table and two from the kitchen were sitting out in front of the "serving counter" But the service from the bar was good, he was very attentive... For the price of a Parisian steak and the serving of it, the price was perhaps set a tooth or two too high, but well-cooked... The Herregårdsböffen (steaks) were dry and gray, but the fries and bearnaise sauce were really good. Not worth the money overall though...

The food was great for what you pay, the service is good, great waiter and chef. I left with a lovely experience. Human contact and interest in whether the food and experience was good. Highly recommend

My daughter and I thank you for a lovely dinner last Friday..Just as delicious as before, the bearnaise sauce was so perfect.. Wishing you all the best..everything starting is difficult..But you get over it quickly. See you again so perfect 👍❤️
