We absolutely loved being able to try the typical danish open sandwiches and we weren’t disappointed! We had three between us - the chicken and mushroom salad, which was our favourite, the salmon salad and the danish meatball (which tasted like stuffing). All very yummy and clearly use very fresh ingredients! Highly recommend!

Great location in the food hall by Tivoli next to the main train station. The selection of Smørrebrød is extensive and the ones I had were delicious.

Very tasty, freshly prepared, not exactly cheap but worth every crown. A must-visit. We were here three times in three days.

What a treat! A bit pricey, the equivalent of £31 for two sandwiches and a beer, but we're here for a good time, not necessarily a long time.
The pickled herring smorrebrot was delicious. Fresh, clean flavours. The Rye bread made it more substantial than it looks.
By contrast, the pork sandwich was equally delicious, in a carnivorous way. Lovely fatty pork belly, perfectly complimented by the creaminess of the dressing, acidity of the red cabbage and crunch of the crackling. A right nice piece of dead pig.
Will definitely return if I'm in Copenhagen again.

Eating at Hallernes Smørrebrød is like getting all of Denmark on a plate. It’s not just about the food, it’s about craftsmanship. Each smørrebrød is a small work of art – beautiful, well-balanced and full of flavour. From the herring to the roast beef and the classic liver pâté – everything is prepared with care and pride.
The atmosphere is lively but warm, the service is fast but personal, and you immediately feel that this is more than just a lunch stop. It’s a part of Danish culture, served with precision and heart.
A place where simplicity meets perfection – and where every bite tells a story.

I visited this place because it was famous for its Danish open-faced sandwiches.
The rye bread is very different from what you'd find in Korea or nearby Asia, so some people might like it or not. Personally, I liked its unique flavor.
However, one slice was enough. Perhaps because the bread was heavier than I expected, I was full quickly, and the cold sandwich made cutting it difficult.
This wasn't a trip to Denmark, but a stopover in Copenhagen, so I only had one meal, so I chose this place. It was a Danish-style authentic dish that's not often seen in Korea, so the dishes I chose were a fusion, but it was a good experience.
I chose Danish meatballs and salmon. The salmon was as good as I'd imagined, and the Danish meatballs were exactly what I'd imagined them to be like at IKEA, but they tasted different!
The only downside is that the space is cramped, located inside a food court.

Not the best experience for a traditional meal.
The smørrebrød selection was rather limited and exclusively cold, unlike other locations in the city.
The chicken salad one (basically a cold salad made of shredded chicken and probably a yogurt-like dressing) was pleasant, though unmemorable, while the potato one was decidedly awful: boiled potatoes without any salt, spices, or seasoning… on top of a ton of mayonnaise, truly excessive.
The clerk was friendly, but, through no fault of her own, the service was objectively slow and inadequate, as one person couldn't handle the orders, preparation, and service alone.
The price, in my opinion, was high for what was offered (about €20 for two, without drinks).
I would recommend looking for a different location to try this traditional dish, which I hope to give a second chance in the future!
