Hotel Ærø Svendborg

13/09/2025: Okay food, a 3 course meal, which in terms of portions would have been suitable for a 5 course meal. The taste was not quite up to par, but an excellent experience

03/09/2025: An unexpected find in Svendborg, where my family was passing by for one night. The two founders had worked at various well-known institutions in Denmark and it shows in their attention to detail & happy use of ingredients. We had turbot with cream sauce & small potatoes, homemade stracciatella with fruit, “Svendborg ham” with spring onion sauce & fruits & a half bottle of Sancerre. It’s not on the cheap end of the spectrum (be warned: the “retters” section of the menu is not meant as the main dish / they recommend you get two of it if you want to make a meal out of them) but the restaurant is a rare find in its unassuming simplicity. Would definitely recommend for a special night.
