04/08/2025: Up-Town in Løgumkloster sounds like something out of an American movie with bright neon signs and teenagers hanging out with milkshakes in their hands and heartbreak in their hearts, but in reality it's more of a cross between a grill and a pizza joint with ambitions of comfort food for hungry customers. Here you get what you see, and there are no surprises. I threw myself into a deep-pan pizza with chicken, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. A combination that on paper should sing in your mouth, but in practice it felt more like a chorus of small, cold notes. The taste was subdued and not something that jumped in the palate with enthusiasm, but the size was fine, and you could easily be reasonably full for the 100 kr. it cost. A meal where you didn't feel cheated, but not particularly spoiled either. The service was a bit of a mystery. I sat there waiting for a waiter for a long time before it dawned on me that here you are worth your own order. It is up to the guest to trot up to the cash register and remind the world that you exist and want some food. It is kind of okay if you know that. The atmosphere in the room is also not something that invites long conversations about life and blazing love; rather a place you go when you are hungry and can neither bear a fire nor the hassle. However, Løgumkloster does not have many places where the pizza actually tastes a bit like pizza, and in that light, Up-Town may be exactly what the city needs. - Okay size and price - Mild flavor without the big arm movements - Deep pan with soft bread and muted dreams - Waiterless experience with self-service plot twist - Not a restaurant, but a rescue on a rainy day - Best pizza in town (for whatever that's worth) 3/5 stars Maybe I'll come again, but next time I'll go straight to the checkout.
