14/05/2026: Coming all the way from the USA, I can honestly say this place is absolutely worth visiting! The food looks amazing and tastes even better. The atmosphere is fantastic, the prices are very reasonable, and the beer selection is excellent with plenty of great options to choose from. The staff and owners are incredibly welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re nearby, do yourself a favor and come enjoy some delicious food along with beautiful views of the sea. Definitely a spot I’ll remember and recommend to others!

13/05/2026: Frankel 5 in Havneby is a restaurant where you can truly relax and enjoy yourself. The food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We had the Stjerneskud, the star platter, and were completely satisfied. The service and ambiance are first-class. We give it 5 stars and our highest recommendation.

06/07/2026: We only had a few drinks, but they were very good. We've rarely had such good hot chocolate. The two coffees were also very good and beautifully prepared.

05/07/2026: We've been coming to Lakolk for years. We've had ice cream at Fru Dax's many times and have always been satisfied. But this time we had a rather "special" experience. The young, blonde waitress who sold ice cream along with the homemade waffles was so rude, rolling her eyes at everything as if we'd done something to her. I've never experienced such unkindness towards customers. Luckily, we were still so excited because it was our first day of vacation that it didn't spoil the children's mood. Even my five-year-old son asked why the woman was being so mean... It really wasn't a pleasant vacation experience; some people just shouldn't be allowed to serve customers.

26/06/2026: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A place you won't find anywhere else We visited Café Gammelby once for coffee and once for dinner – and were completely spoiled both times. From the very first moment, we felt right at home. Since Merethe and Bent don't have a traditional menu, but rather cook according to the chef's choice, we let them know in advance that my girlfriend has dietary restrictions. This restriction was immediately and completely accommodated – it couldn't have been more welcoming and uncomplicated. The food was consistently excellent. Ice cream and mini-muffins were served with the coffee – we've truly never eaten such delicious muffins. The fact that organic and regional ingredients are prioritized is evident in every bite. There's truly something for everyone here – very dog-friendly, and Merethe and Bent are certainly child-friendly as well. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, or dinner: everything is possible by arrangement, and even an overnight stay (even with a campervan) can be easily arranged. Reservations are absolutely necessary, which makes perfect sense given this personal concept. A heartfelt thank you to Merethe and Bent for their breathtaking, friendly hospitality. The value for money is simply unbeatable. 17/07/2026: A very nice café with a large outdoor area. The price of the cakes takes some getting used to.

11/07/2026: A very fun place which you must visit! The cakes are beautifully decorated, the view is incredible, and it being a second hand shop makes the place so much fun. It is however rather expensive, coming in at 260 kronen for a medium french press coffee and 2 cakes. Nothing bad about that, but just keep it in mind!

22/09/2025: Three of us went there for dinner today. The ambiance was great (retro), and the service was extremely friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to this standard. Thin fish, consisting of equal parts breadcrumbs and fish, excessive, dry, crispy fried poultry, and an overall bland flavor spoiled our appetite. Overall, unfortunately, not recommended.

12/01/2026: We come often, and that's because the food is unbeatable and always the same good quality whether it's a burger or steak. The meat is delicious and tender. The fries are crispy and tasty. The potatoes are perfect. The dip is really flavorful, and the pepper sauce I often get is so delicious. The salad is crispy and fresh. There's nothing to delay and you always leave very full. You simply get extra fries/potatoes and dip/sauce if you can eat more. In addition, the service is always good. If you haven't visited the place yet, go. Recommended with 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

06/06/2026: Small terrace outside, 'cafe' inside, and restaurant in the back. Good service, fast service, and tasty food (pasta and Caesar salad). Good wine and dessert, and Irish Coffee is also okay. Perfect for a quick bite while traveling, but also for a night out.

30/05/2026: Fantastically good food and a very special atmosphere, at least for us from the western edge of Norway. Can definitely recommend this place if you want food or drinks.

24/10/2025: Worst café visit in a long time! We were there on the weekend and came in with a dog, as there was no notice online or on the door saying "dogs not allowed." The staff saw us, as well as the dog, so we ordered at the front of the counter with our dog. After completing our order and sitting down, employee number 1 suddenly approached us and rudely told us that dogs weren't allowed. Shortly afterward, the second employee, who had also seen the dog before, approached us. We weren't allowed in with the dog, but they didn't want to refund our money either. So they asked us to sit upstairs in the back corner... very uncomfortable and I didn't feel comfortable in the café at all. Also, the cake and coffee itself: Unfortunately, the cake was dry, and the coffee itself tasted awful. It had absolutely nothing to do with a cappuccino and tasted like a cheap cocoa and water mixture. We took two sips and left it because it was undrinkable. Almost 18€ for two pieces of cake and this coffee (?) was too much!

23/10/2025: Super delicious cinnamon knots! Very friendly owners. We were incredibly lucky to be there at that time; a week later, they were already closed for the winter. Definitely recommended. I'd love to eat one of those delicious cinnamon knots right now!

04/05/2026: We happened to pass by there on our bike tour. There's a free charging station for mobile phones, e-bikes, etc. The bakery opposite the covered area was fantastic. Ideal for a break.

10/04/2026: Good cakes and good bread, there is no place to eat. Nor any option for those with walking difficulties. Very good service!
