This is one of Denmark's leading restaurants, having been awarded three Michelin stars in 2026. The dishes, which focus on regional Danish ingredients, have a variety of flavors layered together, resulting in an overall gentle taste. The service is also top-notch (there were even staff members who spoke Japanese), and the restaurant has a casual, Scandinavian atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to spend time.

This is a very cozy restaurant with a lot of artwork on the walls. It has its roots on the Danish island of Bornholm, and the cuisine is built entirely around that island's ingredients and terroir. When you walk in, you get to say hi to the chefs, and a nice touch was that each chef took turns presenting the dishes we were about to have, which made it very personable. I was eating alone, so they placed me at the communal table, which was nice, because I got to talk with five other complete strangers, and it made the meal more pleasurable. I had the wine pairing, which was very nice, with high quality wines from many different areas, including a Portuguese wine served in the style of a Burgundy. Some of the standout dishes come from their farm in the north, where most of the ingredients are grown. One was a beautiful harvest-style plate with three pieces of different fish and a very concentrated broth. Another was the smoked salmon, which is brined for four days, then cold smoked, and finally warm smoked just before serving. It really stood out for how moist it was, and how it melted in your mouth with all the oils of the salmon preserved. The last standout was a tart with anchovies, which was beautiful. The only downside is that the service is quite long. It took about six hours to complete the meal, and it felt a little drawn out at times, with long intermissions. The pace went very well in the beginning, up until the palate cleanser, and then it slowed down as the night got later.

If you have the opportunity to experience Kadeau, you shouldn’t think twice and just go!

We were at Kadeau for lunch at noon, 5 September 2026. Food and service staff were outstanding. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Our 15 course lunch at Kadeau was amazing. From start to finish there was an incredibly service and attention to details. We ordered wine by the bottle - there were 100s to choose from. The atmosphere was cozy and it felt like you were at home. I would have preferred that the servers would have spoken better English - it was hard to understand at times what were being said. But that is just a minor detail. 5 stars from here. We will definitely come back.

Bornholm in Copenhagen! Kadeau delivers a fantastic experience with local ingredients from the island. Their tasting menu is creative and tasty. The wine is carefully selected. Service is professional and friendly. A little more expensive but worth it for a special evening. Book well in advance!

I really enjoyed having lunch and staying there. It was very interesting to listen to the explanation of wines for wine pairing. Also, every dish is so unique and amazing taste. I had a lovely time. Thank you so much.

The single best culinary experience of my lifetime.

An absolutely unforgettable experience! It’s incredible to see how seamlessly the kitchen and front of house flow together, truly a deeply personable dining experience without compromise. Knockout dish after knockout dish. Our server Adrian was just lovely and an absolute charmer with deep seated knowledge about wine. A rare combo to find indeed. The chef presenting nearly all of our dishes gave Adrian a run for his money in terms of loveliness. The room itself is also a charmer in it’s own right. Cozy without being kitsch, elegant without the bourgeois. Kudos to all the team at Kadeau! Head chef Leo’s incredible management, the detailed work of the kitchen staff, the friendliness in the air. We left with our bellies full and heads spinning with flavour!

We visited Cateau Copenhagen with very high expectations, especially given its newly awarded three Michelin stars. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of what we’ve come to expect at this level. Before our reservation, my 78-year-old mother became ill and was unable to attend. Although two of three guests still dined, we were charged the full300 euro deposit for her seat. We understood there was a cancellation policy but had hoped for some compassion. Instead, we were told that ingredients had been purchased for three guests, which was hard to reconcile with the very small tasting portions. The only gesture offered was one complimentary glass of champagne per diner, which did not feel proportional to the situation. There was also an issue with my martini. It tasted unusually bitter, and when I asked about it, I was first told it contained sake, which had never been mentioned. When I asked to see the vodka bottle, the story changed. First, that another bottle had to be brought, then that it was a special limited edition vodka produced for the restaurant. Despite my request, I was never shown the bottle. Greater transparency would have inspired more trust. I want to clearly acknowledge that the servers and kitchen staff were excellent—warm, professional, and attentive. My criticism is directed at management’s handling of the situation and the overall value. Finally, while presentation was refined, we found the food itself underwhelming. The menu consisted of many very small courses, but the flavors and overall experience did not justify the price or the three-star designation. I genuinely wanted to love Cateau, but I left disappointed. Clearer communication, greater transparency, and more compassion from management would have made a significant difference. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend it at its current level of recognition.
