Klostercaféen Tønder

A pleasant experience at this café-restaurant, located in a charming pedestrian square in the center of Tønder. It was truly enjoyable to have lunch outside, in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. The food was good and the service was pleasant. I highly recommend it, especially to those passing through and looking for a break while exploring the city.

We were quickly shown to a table inside. The decor is outdated, bordering on shabby. The food was relatively expensive but not particularly good.

Had a delicious lunch with homemade tuna salad and shrimp.

We arrived on a lovely summer day from Germany, looked for a restaurant that had Wienerschnitzel, Klostercafeen was the place, had a big sign on the street that it was served, we went to a nice table and ordered drinks, when these come, we are about to order, here the waitress tells us that today they do not make Wienerschnitzel, to our great disappointment. We ordered something else, but after 10 minutes, the same waitress comes in and tells us that unfortunately there was a 30 minute wait. We were a little disappointed with the way it was handled, we stayed and the food was excellent.

Nice outdoor seating area. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food. Too much breading on the fish for our taste.

Lovely cafe with plenty of shaded, outdoor seating as well as indoor seating—it's a bit of an institution in Tønder. The food was excellent and the portions large. They even have little buzzers for the table to ask to order as well as to ask for the check. Super service, patient and helpful staff, and payment with a contactless payment was a breeze. The café is situated between the main church and the pedestrian street with ample parking on the square and at parking lots on adjacent streets. We ordered the Stjerneskud (classic danish open-faced sandwich with a twist , which was the salmon plus the perfectly breaded and fried fish fillet). The No-chicken burger with fries and remulade was also good. The no-chicken pay had a chicken consistency and was good and the fries are good as well, so a very good vegetarian main dish.

Super nice place, good food and good service in cozy surroundings. A huge plus: Dogs are welcome! <3
