07/10/2024: Although I lived in a former prison cell with sparse furniture, there was something special about spending the night at Den Gamle Arrest in Ribe. The private toilet was a luxury the inmates probably didn't have. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages, skir, bread and some cold cuts and cheese. Coffee, tea and juice, there was a nice waiter and it was nice to sit and eat in the historic setting. However, I think perhaps I lacked a bit of the raw, authentic feeling that one might expect from a stay in an old prison. But the location in the heart of Ribe made up for the shortcomings. It was a unique experience, even if the authentic prison atmosphere was perhaps a little too polished. Check-in; you received an SMS with all the information you need to be able to find the key, room, etc. The price is on the expensive side for one night, for the hotel's standard.
