Restaurant Grønttorvet Odense

For lunch, we went to Grønttorvet – a restaurant with a rich history. It was first opened as a Tavern in 1761 and had many uses through the years. Today, they serve up tradtiional Danish food an this time, we tried the Fried Herring Smørrebrød (99kr – $20 SGD), the Biksemad (Danish meat and potato hash – 169kr) as well as a craft IPA. For the beer, though it came in a bottle, we were surprised to find that the brand under the the HC Andersens Brewery was called Klods Hans! The story that related to Tom’s personality and now the beer – perfectly. After our meal at Grønttorvet, we are now really converts of the Smørrebrød or “butter bread”. The Fried Herring was served cold – which admittedly was a little strange at first was actually pretty appetizing. Grønttorvet used the Remoulade Sauce and topped with dill that made this dish so delicious. The secret to a good Smørrebrød, we think, lies in the sauce and of course the rye bread and butter used. I had the Wienerschnitzel and it was really good. The potatoes were simply perfect. There were 10 of us and everyone was happy with their dishes.

A really cozy restaurant that exudes the past and tradition. The food is Danish and of good quality. This applies to the main course and dessert. With the latter, our children had the place's homemade ice cream, which they were very excited about. I had the classic apple porridge, which tasted heavenly of fresh apples and a hint of port wine. Grønttorvet has the family's warmest recommendation, and remember to book a table.

Unser Hotel ist in der Nähe von daher waren wir 2mal hier zum Essen . Die Gerichte sind deftig und sehr ordentliche Portionen! Geschmacklich waren wir ebenso begeistert. Das fleißige Personal bereitete uns einen schönen Abend .

Cibo ottimo, molto pepato lo stufato ma eccellente Personalmente nel menu del giorno era previste guancette di maiale con una crema favolosa, cipolle e funghi eccezionali Unica pecca é il conto, 26€ (200 corone danesi) per due CARAFFE di acqua naturale, un po eccessivo e sopratutto non indicato nel menu per il resto nulla da aggiungere, servizio veloce e cortese!
