Really good smørrebrød in a classic sit down restaurant. Cloth tablecloth and napkins. Large place so there’s nearly always room for walkins. Kitchen open all day.

We had an exceptional lunch at Restaurant Kastellet. The waiter was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the traditional Danish concept to us, which made the experience feel welcoming and authentic. He also provided excellent advice on which snaps to pair with our specific food choices, navigating their impressive selection. The smørrebrød itself was outstanding, both the beautifully prepared tartare and the delicious herring variations. Highly recommended for a high quality, traditional dining experience.

An absolutely incredible dining experience that completely stole our hearts from the moment we walked in!The restaurant welcomes you with a super cool, stylish, and unique interior where every single detail feels thoughtfully designed and creates a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. The food was nothing short of spectacular: the veal tartart boasted a fantastic texture and perfectly balanced flavors, while the turbot was cooked to absolute perfection and literally melted in our mouths. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a wonderful selection of wine and excellent local beer that paired beautifully with the dishes. What truly made our evening unforgettable, though, was the service; our waitress was extraordinarily polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel incredibly well taken care of throughout the night. We will absolutely be back and cannot recommend this fantastic place enough!

Delicious meal in an elegantly simple setting with excellent friendly service. The roast hokaido pumpkin with mushroom mayonnaise, pickled onions, walnuts and pickles smørrebrød was delicious.

Nice, cozy, authentic restaurant for top-tier smørrebrøds. Bit pricy but worth it.

The atmosphere was excellent. It was very cozy and quiet. My mom ordered a vegetarian dish, my dad, fish, shrimp and bread, my grandma ordered fish and bread. My sister ordered three types of herring, curry herring and marinated herring. The last one I forgot what it was. I ordered fish and chips however there was not a lot of taste. You could only order it for kids. We also ordered a dessert but it's only fit for people who fancy sour dishes. There were crunchy crackers too. The food was a little too oily but it did satisfy my family.

Undoubtedly good overall!!! Tucked hidden from the Main Street, it is almost unnoticeable. However, if anyone is lucky enough to discover this place, you sure must try! I ordered the three types of herring, and it was very flavourful. The sourish herring, accompanied by the crumbly bread, cream and onions were delicious. My sis ordered fish and chips, it was ordinary. My mother ordered a vegetarian dish. It was nice and fresh, also with sliced pumpkin. The rest was fried fish with shrimp and mayo, and was nicely peculiar. The dessert, rhubarb trifle, was nice and refreshing. The dessert is fit for anyone who fancies sour food. The atmosphere was cozy and all the dishes were served with beautiful blue plates. This is a must- try!!!

Relaxed traditional feeling restaurant which opens for lunch serving a huge range of traditional open sandwiches even with a gf bread option which was delicious. The toppings were so good I would happily come in everyday for lunch if we lived here. The staff were extremely sweet and helpful too. Thanks for the wonderful experience on our holiday.

Conveniently located near to Kastellet and a beautiful (touristy) canal walk. The food is great!! Don't be fooled by the size of this quaint, yet surprisingly awesome restuarant. The waitron (Thea) is very knowledgeable about food and cooking in general. The chef must be very well qualified. I cannot recommend the tenderloin (pork) with mushroom sauce enough. This was, arguably, the tastiest mushroom sace on planet earth. The chicken salad strongly resembled a chicken mayonnaise, and the fried parsley was, which at first glance appeared to be a decoration, was exceptionally tasty. The deserts, trifle and strawberry parfait were well presented and very tasty. Overall a very good experience!

Good service and a warm atmosphere. The star sandwich, plaice with shrimp, was quite tame in taste, and I could count the shrimp on one hand. 😗
